On the "point, counter point" issue I can't think of a more relevant situation than Ronald Reagan and James Brady. Both shot by the same guy, same gun, seconds apart.
Pres. Reagan remained a staunch and adamant supporter of gun ownership for self defense. While James Brady, albeit brain damaged, was convinced by his new bride (married after being shot) that guns were bad.

fwiw, there is also big money in being anti-gun with the right scam. I'm personally thinking of one now to fund ammo purchases.

Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

Another good read is Wayne LaPierre's The Global war on Guns

And you can also find some well expressed opinion's in fiction. Try Robert Heinlein, Louis Lamour, and William Johnstone. You can almost pick up any of their books at random and find something in them worth quoting.

Give me a few minutes and I am sure I will remember the names of some specific books.

Oh, I intend to dig up some anti-gun arguments for my paper. Writing is my "thing" - and I really, REALLY love using my keyboard to rip lame arguments (you know - the ones based on emotion, not logic and fact) to itty-bitty shreds. :)
