Hey cheapskates! I said a burger! I did not say "Gun lunch at Cafe Annie", although that would be pretty funny. Good news is that there is some interest. I guess we will need to try pick somewhere in a central location besides downtown. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Is it safe to say that we can rule out Taco Cabana and a movie at AMC!

I will go if I can, but I live 50 miles from downtown Houston.

May I suggest that you post a new thread with a poll asking which approximately locations people prefer (for example, I-45 N, 45 S, 59 S, 10 W, 10 E).

I'll come to a CHL lunch in Galveston any time.

Since I'm a teacher and only get 30 minute lunches, this wouldn't work for me for ten months of the year, but I would definitely meet up with y'all during the summer, and on breaks if they happen to fall at the same time you're meeting up.

Here's my recommendation for location: vary it. Have it at different areas of town each month so that no one is driving too far every month. People most familiar with the area could pick/recommend the place, as they would know what's good.

Weekend thing = no sweat! Anywhere in Houston w/ enough warning ahead of time

And let's not rule out the 3rd Saturday of the month. I believe that's the only Saturday where there isn't a monthly IDPA match in the Houston area that might keep people away (there are weekly practices, like at Thunder, and there's the monthly carbine match at Impact Zone, but no monthly IDPA; USPSA, I don't know).

I'd be very restricted for a weekday meeting, as well. It would literally have to be less than 10 Houston-traffic minutes from my office.

Stellar idea, my dear; stellar! Maybe even stagger the day of the week and location. Another idea might be to piggy-back it on Saturdays AFTER IDPA. That would allow it move around, and those who wanted could meet up and shoot the morning match, then drive to the lunch. West Houston (Brookshire) shoots the 1st Saturday of the month; Thunder Tactical near Conroe the 2nd Saturday; 3rd is open, as I mentioned; and PSC in Pearland shoots the 4th Saturday. So if we pick a meeting place a little closer to central than each of those three, we could alternate every three months to west, north, and south/southeast. Might encourage some new IDPA shooters, as well.

Also, if we wanted to try to arrange, say, an early after-work Friday some time, I know the friendly Sanford family at Shiloh Indoor Range near Willowbrook Mall in NW Houston would be happy to entertain us for some rapid-fire target-blastin'.
