It seems this guy, the shooter has some serious mental problems. Or, has to have some anger management problems. Did his daughter witnessed this attmepted murder? You disarm someone and then shoot him 2 times, in cold blood, then you call 911.

Something is really wrong here. Most probably this guy will get 25 to life.

Mr. Serbeck, got out of his vehicle
Second mistake. Up until that point, this had the appearance of a carjacking by an armed perpetrator. A vehicle can be your best weapon and provide cover while you exit the scene.

First mistake was talking to the girls. Neighborhood watch should just watch. It's up to the cops to question suspects. Watch has no statutory powers here. The guy was out of line and it unfortunately put him on the bad side of a nut case.

Yeah, if you look at all the steps in this case, there were at least a dozen opportunities for nothing bad to have happened.

The alleged shooter, Reggie Campos, is out on $100,000 bond. He told reporters that accounts that he shot an unarmed man are inaccurate.

This trial is in progress (rather quickly for a felony trial).

I really don't feel like reading all the abbreviated reports of conflicting witness testimony. It is essentially a liars' contest. I don't know who is lying, but they can't all be telling the truth.

The take-home message is it didn't have to happen. Vehicle vandalism is not worth shooting, disabilities, or decades in prison. It's a hunk of metal and plastic. You'll go through five or ten in a lifetime and be happy to see most of them hauled off to the junk yard.

Guilty of first-degree felony attempted murder and two counts of third-degree felony aggravated assault.

That worked out perfectly, didn't it?

The Citizens Patrol rules in Houston prohibit having a gun. Just one of the reasons I don't belong. They do have the magnetic car door signs. A Citizens Patrol person can also walk the area. I walk 3 1/2 miles thru the neighborhood every day I am in Houston, armed but not dangerous. Could not carry if I were a member of CP.

The man who was shot and left paralyzed has been accused of "unlawful sex activity with a minor" based on an alleged consensual relationship with a teenage girl before the shooting.

If the guy who was shot and parralayzed would be proven to have sexual predatory behavor against young girts, that for sure will open the case wide open. The father in the jail had to pay large sum of money ($250k?) in damages for the paralyzed man

I don't see any relationship.

The convicted shooter had no information about the victim's alleged offenses, and claimed self defense against the victim (who was armed).

I have no idea what the sentence means under Colorado law.

As I have pointed out before, when someone is convicted of a felony, it hardly matters if they spend one day or ten years in prison. Their life as an honest citizen is over. They can never hold a position of trust, including any licensed profession or trade. They can be denied employment at will.

I do not know if the paralyzed man was cross examined and or asked if he had any sexual relation with minors. If he denied or not came forward with correct answer He may lose credibility in his claims that he was shot while he was not the agressor.

That particular clause shows thinking that isn't quite clear. We do not want LEO's that aggressive either. Though LEO's are supposed to look for trouble, to stop it.
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.
