Re: Trespassing? Or worse?
I recently moved into a gated community, and they NEVER missed an opportunity to remind us that the gates were for traffic control, NOT CRIME CONTROL! They must have told us that 137 times during the entire build process and closing meetings. Yeah, all about getting sued.

Re: Trespassing? Or worse?
If you ask your gated community if it's OK to bypass the gates, I think they would say no. If you ask if it's OK to call the police to report trespassing by strangers intentionally bypassing the gates, I think they would say yes.redoregon wrote:I recently moved into a gated community, and they NEVER missed an opportunity to remind us that the gates were for traffic control, NOT CRIME CONTROL! Reading the original question I didn't see anything about guaranteed safety/security or management liability. The question seemed to be whether people bypassing the gates were trespassing and/or doing something worse.
I think it's obvious they're trespassing if they're uninvited but unless they enter buildings it doesn't look like it escalates to something worse, like burglary.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
