+1 on the Buffalo Bill (and Winchester Firearm) Museum in Cody, WY.

Also, while I guess not technically a "gun" museum, the National Infantry Museum located at Fort Benning, GA has a very impressive collection of firearms. Many of which were owned by famous military figures from our side (such as Patton, Eisenhower, and MacArthur) and such infamous folks from the other side (like Hitler, Hussein, and others). While one of my sons was stationed there we made a visit or two, but it's worth the trip just to see the Museum.

We can recommend the Ponderosa RV Park for your stay there. :tiphat:
I visited the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody back in 1967. I was a callow youth at the time (15 yrs old), but I remember being impressed with it. I would like to take my wife and son there sometime.

another ditto for the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody. I had the opportunity to spend some quality time there in 1971 while on my "see the world before I grow up" trip. A buddy and I were headed to Colorado to camp for a few weeks, and next thing we knew we were rodeo 'n in Cody...then ended up in Montana... then Canada.....aahhh... the good old days. The museum was actually one of the highlights of our trip. And, from other folks that have been multiple times, it sounds like it has grown considerably in the last... what... nearly FORTY YEARS????

I was thinking the same thing! I was stationed there for a year and the variety of historic weapons, bombs, tanks, artillery, and everything else under the sun is staggering. Definitely worth checking out for the cool photo ops., next time you're in Baltimore area.

Its now in the Sanders Corps of Cadets center.
The most famous exhibit is the Metzger-Sanders gun collection. The collection is nationally known and is continuously used for historical research.

I used to visit his collection when it was in his hotel (WAY back in the 60's) as a child. When they moved it to the museum it was expanded.

My favorite has always been the rifle that shoots around corners.

Small world. I too remember going through the hotel to see the guns. I remember the moving into the new museum building. I've got to make a return trip someday.

I remember there is (or used to be) a tank out in front. Was it a Sherman? I can't recall.

I'm not up on my tanks  , but click on the link to the museum in a previous post and there is a picture of it on their home page.

I think that might be a Light Tank M-24 "Chaffee", circa Korean War/Conflict...if anyone cares.

I never saw the colection when it was at the hotel, but we went to the museum a lot over the years. I'll be up that way again for the holidays. My children would love it.
