Whoa! I just googled the location of this shooting, and it's less than 4 miles from my house. I've known for a while that anything can happen anywhere, but this just drives it home. Also, it makes me uncomfortably aware that if I'm watching TV (front of house), and BG breaks in suddenly, I probably wouldn't be able to get to my gun safe in time (back of house). Whenever I've thought up scenarios like this, I had figured I would have at least a few seconds to get out of the living room...but not if the guy starts shooting immediately!

No USA1 I thinks its appropriate, but I still think you need to where a NUGE camo cowboy hat while wearing your bathrobe and carrying a pistol. I have a gun in every room of the house. Am I paranoid, nope, as I have written before a home invasion took place next door no more than 35 yards from my front door 8 months ago. They will be lucky to get hit with my .45. If I happen to be in a room where I dont have access to my .45 they get served a plate of buckshot.

This incident happened at a home I can see from my driveway: http://www.click2houston.com/news/17155928/detail.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And why this is within grabbing distance at all times:

Yes, Shotgun, Ar15, a few pistols and adding more.

OK, not to derail the thread but I need to ask about that shotgun. I just put the Knoxx on my Maverick 88 but as most know the forend can not swap with standard Mossy 500 upgrades. Looking for forend tube to change out and whos side saddle did you use? Also, shield and light. Nice setup. PM me if possible.

We watch TV upstairs each nite. My upstairs protection was located at the top of the stairs. I have now moved it to where I sit 15 feet away. It doesn't make good sense not to have protection within your reach.
