Well, in the Alamo chapel, they make you take your hat off, I don't know about firearms.

If they ban firearms, isn't that a contradiction in terms? The Alamo was defended my Texicans who carried arms (long, pistol, big knives, etc.). Texas would be a sleepy northern province of Mexico, if it wasn't for a bunch of folks carrying arms.

How can Texas have such short memories!? Personally, I blame the northerners. :evil2:

They don't ban firearms in the Alamo - at least as recently as last July. I carried all over the place when I was there and never saw a single sign that would apply to a CHL holder. In fact, I don't recall any firearms related signs. I did remove my hat out of respect on entering as the sign requested.

Here is the reply I received today:

Dear Mr. S----,

CHL holders may carry firearms on the Alamo complex. If you read the
currently posted rules and regulations when you visit, you may see the
outdated version that requests CHL holders to store their weapons in the
Ranger Office for the duration of their Alamo visit. You can ignore that
because it is no longer valid (if it ever was). New signs with the revised
rules and regulations are currently being made. The new rule prohibits only
unlicensed firearms.

Enjoy your visit,

You know, I don't like looking at fish somebody won't let catch, so I'm not too bummed about this one.

I went there last Tuesday and I didn't see the sign, though I looked around a bit. To me it's not "conspicuously posted". Without starting a new thread, I think there's an argument that if you didn't see the sign, you didn't receive "written notice" under 30.06. Anyway, I left my gun in the car because it's too darn big to carry in my shorts. Gotta start carrying the Walther.

If Seaworld is classified as an amusement park, it's off limits anyway.

Griz44, that is incorrect.
Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.
(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:
(5) in an amusement park; or
…..
(f) In this section:
(1) "Amusement park" means a permanent indoor or outdoor facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the public that is located in a county with a population of more than one million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on the premises at all times. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.
……
(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.

That is not true. For an amusement park to be off limits, they most post a valid 30.06 sign:
Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.
[...]
(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:
[...]
(5) in an amusement park; or
[...]
(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.
Everyone forgets section (i).

I'm blowing the dust off this one because this is what my search yielded...I'm not prepared to tell my wife and three kids that they cannot go to Seaworld because I cannot carry. :rules: It is a shame it is not allowed, but I'll make up for it at the Alamo.

I went this summer with my daughter and wife, I didnt carry, we had blast. I will go again. Doesnt mean I agree with Sea World for posting it, but sometimes you gotta reach way down deep in side, live on the wild side, and go to Sea World with the kiddos. I just didnt want my daughter to have to tell the class at the beginning of school, "we didnt go to sea world this summer because daddy couldnt take the glock".
