You guys are all so serious!! I would advise anyone like that guy to run off and join the crew of the MV Steve Irwin. Then he could sail around in the Antartic wearing a tee shirt, shorts and Birkenstocks and smoke all the weed he wants while chasing down Japanese whalers. Course, he can't use his gun.

I agree 100%. I would suspect I am at the younger end of the spectrum of posters, and I have to tell you I know a fair amount of people who smoke from time to time. They are not who you would stereotypically expect; in the group we have mostly college educated young professionals (including a Doctor and an Attorney) who smoke on occasion. All people who make a good living and have not let a substance (this or any other) control their lives.

That being said, the odds of getting charged with possession when the contraband was on someone’s else person, and you had now knowledge of it is about 0% (IANAL, etc,etc). To be charged with possession you would need to “knowingly or intentionally” posses the weed. Not to be ignorant, but I am on a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy when traveling with friends. If you have knowledge of their possession I would have to imagine that would bring you a lot closer to crossing the law.

How is it that I manage to have a large circle of friends where my biggest concern is if their bleach is up and their handguns locked? Where I would assume something happened TO them if I saw police in front of their house? I do not have to worry with any of my friends if they have illegal drugs, if they were out last night getting drunk at bars, or if crazy ex-girlfriends will show up with a gang trying to pick a fight while I'm visiting. I know there are plenty of people like that out there, but I choose not to be friends or to hang out with them and I don't seem to have any problems finding people who stay on the right side of the law. Why do so many others seem to have a problem with this?

I suppose they've already answered me: they don't care. I can't comprehend it.

LOL, had to laugh at this statement. I used to have a "Dr" friend who said he wasnt going to let himself become "addicted". He has since lost his job and career. A drug will do what is it "suppose" to do regardless of your own will. Try it, take a few Ex-Lax and see :)

I know it can be a tough thing to do, especially for younger people, but if your friends are smoking pot, or actively engaged in illegal activity, get away from them. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas. This advice has nothing to do with concealed carry but just a good general rule for living. There is no reason to put yourself in a situation where you will be caught up in the eventual consequences of their poor choices. One of the most important things we can do to make ourselves better people is to surround ourselves with other good, moral, god-fearing, law-abiding people. I was in my early to mid-thirties by the time I filtered out all the people in my circle of friends who I knew were of somewhat questionable character. It was literally the best thing I could have done for myself. Since then, I try to be friendly to all but familiar with few.
