I had X10 in my old house, and have yet to install it here. It is GREAT. I had it hooked to the alarm system too. In the event of a Burglar alarm, it would flash the front and rear porch lights. In the event of a fire alarm, it would turn on and leave on ALL house lights.

I had an "all on" button in the bedroom that I had set up just as you described.

Russ,

Owning a Warrior .45, and a XD SubCompact 9mm, I carry the XD.
I weighed the issues, and personally felt that several well placed shots trumps caliber issues. No pistol or orund is perfect, but its hard to argue accuracy. That said, the weight issue of the two made the XD a better choice.

However, at home, the XD is tucked away, and Warrior is the Primary.
It has a Glock TacLight/Laser combo, and I am very comfortable using it.

This weekend I just put the TruGlo TFO's on the XD. Yummy!
Need some rangetime to make sure they're true.

I suspect the true test for you is, what is your comfort level??
Do you have peace carrying the 9mm? If not, don't!

BTW, the TruGlos came from AbleAmmo for $94 shipped.

Using a standard pistol target at 15 yards:

both hands 90% in the black 9, 10 and X rings.
of the remaining 10% I have 7% in the 8 ring and only 3% in the 7 ring.

Strong hand only; 3 yards:
100% in black.

Weak hand only; 3 yards:
100% in black.

that is using my 9mm
