A little context might be helpful here, before we get too perturbed.

The UK govt is attempting to make major budget cuts at them moment, in an attempt to get public spending somewhere vaguely close to under control. As a direct result, everybody from the spooks to the folks who organise cocktail parties for movie directors is working 24/7, briefing any journalist who'll listen to them that the world will come to an end if their budget is cut.

In other words, nothing to see here, move along.

Nah....

I'll keep my long gun at home.

Muslim terrorists with long guns don't concern me much as I've seen the way they shoot. High explosives, on the other hand....
I think that the stereotypical Muslim "spraying and praying" is generally a thing of the past, at least among trained Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters.
