It is a jewelry store. If the owner had a handgun mounted under that desk by magnet so that no draw was required, and then did what every law enforcement officer is taught to do -- watch their hands -- he could have shot 3X at the first guy through the desk when the guy in the white shirt was still going for his gun and racking the slide. Then he could have focused on 2&3.olafpfj wrote:That being said, I don't think anyone in their right mind would've tried for the quick draw in that situation. Those guys were pros....![]()
It was a no win. If you drew and went for it you were for sure going to get hosed without having some sort of cover.
Yep, that is my attitude. I'd rather go down fighting that entrust my life to the goodness and charity of a thug.cbr600 wrote:I might have tried. Not because I think I'm Quick Draw McGraw but because I might think it's my only chance to survive.
It was broad daylight. They weren't wearing masks. They're obviously not afraid that I'll ID them to the cops. Why not? The most reasonable answer is they don't plan to leave any witnesses alive. If I think they're going to execute me after I cooperate, what do I have to lose by fighting back?
Remember the Richmond VA jewelry store owner brothers that had a big shootout with several armed thugs from the Dixie Mafia? They won by having revolvers stashed every 5 feet behind the counter and a shotgun for the gun overlooking the floor. When they fired a revolver dry, they simply grabbed the next gun.
