The sub compact is about the same size as the Glock 26. I used the same holster for both. Did you have the
sub compact?

The PX4 are excellent guns for whoever is looking for a DA/SA, I really like mine and have the same experience no failure no matter what I put on it. :fire

You are right about Texas. In fact, any state is better than NY. Not only is Texas more gun friendly it
is more friendly in every which way. There is something about NYorkers that makes them think that
the world ends once you go over the Washington or Verrzano bridges. My aunt still lives there and she is constantly amazed
at the progress that Texas has made. When I tell her we went to the mall today she asked "Oh, Texas has malls?" I told
her that they just finished building it and the whole state came to see. We also have indoor plumbing.

Could be related but prob. not. My folks are Irish and I'm first generation born here in US. Dad joined US Army when he got here and I was in the USCG after Aviation HS before NYPD. Retired now and love'n Texas. BTW don hume makes a great IWB holster for the PX4 subcompact and the Springfield XD subcompact holster fits the gun aswell (with decocker lever down) Easier to find the XD holsters at gun shows. Gunnersalley.com is a good source at fair prices. Used them before without problem. Just a little FYI :patriot:

Thanks for the info. I have holsters from JMG holsters. He makes very good leather holsters for a very reasonable price. My Ruger SR9c, my Beretta and my Glock 27 all fit the same holster.
I am having another made for the Ruger SR9c because it sticks out the bottom of the holster about an inch. Still fits well but for the price [about $40 including shipping] I figured I get another.
I am looking to get a Ruger SR40c which will fit the holster as well. I am looking for a couple other models. I just like going to the range every now and then and popping off a few rounds.
I am trying to keep my collection to 9MM and .40 cal. Do not want to go into other calibers so as to keep the price of shooting down.

BTW, I am 2nd generation Italian [Sicilian] so we are probably not related. I was raised in a 100% Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn during WWII. Actually it was the Ridgewood section of Brooklyn. Knickerbocker Ave, Menahan St, Wilson Ave. That area you may know where I am talking about. My grandparents did not speak any English, could not read of write, not even Italian.
So the area I grew up was "insulated" and no one except Italians lived there, particularly Sicilians. I did not know there was anyone else living in the US except Italians. I left Brooklyn in 1950 and we lived in Deer Park, LI and then in '55 we moved to Jackson Heights, Queens.

I will never go back!!

Trying to Be cost effective and keep to a few calibers myself. Can't see myself getting into the reloading scene. I don't trust my reloading skills and I'm quite fond of all ten of my fingers. All but retired my 38 Spl. Guns and keep a few boxes of ammo in the safe for them. Find walmart to be the cheapest for 9mm & 40 cal target ammo and Academy for the defense rounds. Not a big fan of mail order ammo either. Good luck with the Ruger. They make a fine revolver and their new 1911 looks solid. I know their early semi auto P89 was eliminated from the NYPD 9mm pistol trials years ago but I don't know why. The Sig P226 DAO, S&W 5946 DAO and Glock 19 were approved and still in service. But that was almost 15 yes ago. Ruger has come along way in the SEmi auto pistol category. Gun gets great reviews and slot of interest at the gun shows. Enjoy. :patriot:

I have the P-89 and it is my favorite gun but it is too big to carry. I am giving it to my daughter for
home defense. Two 15rd clips and fiber/optic sights. It is a great shooter and that is the gun I qualify with. For
my CHL I got 248/250. Do not know why it would be eliminated by the NYPD except for size, maybe. Maybe the NYPD
was not allowed to have 15 rd clips. :fire

I was looking for the 1911 pistol in a .40

Yes, I buy at Wal-Mart. I get the Winchester FMJ in 250 rd boxes. Works out to be about $10/50 or just
a tad more.

Many years ago I used to reload, pistol, rifle and a lot of shotgun for skeet. I used to travel Florida, Georgia and Alabama
in Skeet shoots. I won a Remington semi-auto shotgun at one of those shoots. I forget the model!!

I then was stationed at Travis AFB in the mid '60s and would go to Thule Reservoir in northern Calif. just south of the Klamath
Basin in southern Oregon. Had some of the best duck and goose hunting around.

A good thing about reloading was I could "custom" load shot shells especially for "blue bird" days when the ducks and geese would take off
in a vertical climb to about 10k  feet and then level off. No one could hit them !! Of course the 10k feet is an exaggeration
but you get the idea. I found that if I loaded #6 shot with max powder and then our molten wax down in the shot I could keep the shot
together long enough to get ducks, geese that no one else could hit with factory loads.

You are right!! Reloading simply is not worth the trouble sometimes and have not done it for many years. When I did reload I was a heavy smoker
and I found out that smoking and reloading did not mix. :nono: :blowup

It has been nice meeting and chatting with you.

Who would guess there are so many transplanted NYorkers in Texas. :txflag:
