That being the case, it would mean that visitors must fend for themselves even more than on other public property and that carry would make even more sense.

At the same time, it tells me that the chance of being caught carrying is minimal, which you can interpert as you'd like.

To me it is Post Office parking areas as the most pointless, next of course is COE land. Why is it that those we pay wages to, make their own laws. BATF comes to mind concerning their semi-automatic long gun, they say restriction, I say Law. The same as the Post Office and COE, you can be imprisoned for violating these so called restrictions. If the American people pay the wages of any entity, we should be the only ones who make the rules, this includes Army property/bases. I don't care what a General says, we aught to make the rules, he/she doesn't like it, quit. This whole it is for the safety of (fill in the blank), burns me up. :banghead:

Another reason why carrying is a good idea on ACOE land and elsewhere:

I would say "anywhere". To me any carry prohibition comes from the same mindset, that says, a women holding the hand of a child is a mother, a man holding a child's hand is a pervert.

I suspect that if push came to shove, the road across Grapevine Dam is also COE controlled. Officially, this poses a problem for any of us North of the Lake trying got to Grapevine. The alternative route is past Grapevine Mills Mall.

I've appealed a different problem to the head of the Ft. Worth District, COE and it was met with deaf ears. COE is very clear - they are in the flood control business and anything else that they do is secondary at best. The basis for my other problem was the COE making it convenient for themselves by granting a monopoly on Grapevine line, to the determent of the public. Lake Lewisville too? Oh man!!!

It goes further. Many of the COE camp grounds physically bar the roads at night. Cedar Breaks Park at Georgetown does this. What it means is that if you did have a problem at night in the park, local law enforcement would have that much harder time getting to you inside the park. If you have a medical emergency and need to get out, it is difficult. Incidentally, cell phone coverage in the park is very spotty.

By contrast, Cedar Hill State Park has a automatic gate whose code is given to the campers. It is possible to get in and out if you have to in an emergency. Even though Joe Pool is a COE lake, the camp ground is run by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Whether it passes muster with the Corps or not, TP&W has no problem with CHL carry. There are parts of Cedar Hill that are pretty remote, too, though I doubt if anyone is growing Mary Jane there.

Oh don't hold so firmly to those doubts.

Besides ACOE land gun shows come to mind. And I think Obama would sign the bill as he already signed the National Park carry bill.

I think Obama may have been pro Credit Card Reform Act, and pro getting the publicity before families took off for Memorial Day...not so much pro gun.

My question is can a TPW officer write you up for being in violation of Federal Law by carrying on ACOE lands?

Can an local LEO write you up for violating federal law by carrying on USPS property?

I have had only one incident on ACOE where I was carrying, and it was at a State Park. TPW did not even speak of the ban on ACOE, and I later found out about it here. That is one experience, with one officer, and I guarantee YMMV...

Most of the carry bans are the wotk of anti gun liberals

they want to make more people prohibited from having guns. So they come up with

ClassC family violence as a way to prohibit millions from having guns

Same way with the Army Corped of engineers

Better watch out they might try to forbid Jay walkers from having guns

after all they are a danger to society. I ran my motorcycle between cars stopped on

a red light and then I ran the light to get away from a road rager in a pick up

gee maybe they need to take guns away from red light runners even

if they have a good reason for doing it. Like getting away from a bad situation

The National Parks bill does not apply to COE property. COE lakes are not National Parks.

Texas needs to kick all these Feds outta the State and take control of our own properties.

This burns me up! How much longer are we going to put up with this?

TP&W take over COE lands and send the COE Packing, including their subsidized budget!

Ban all US Post Offices from Texas......use other shippers, mail services.

Kick ALL the Feds out! :banghead: Stop all this rolling over us by everyone that wants to control us. Start PUSHING BACK instead of just "taking it".

Put Texans to work and the Feds in the bread lines! :txflag:

AND........

Texas CHL's should be allowed to carry EVERYWHERE a Texas LEO is allowed to......PERIOD.

Stop avoiding all these issues.....GET 'ER DONE! :txflag:

Schools.

If there is a place containing more precious items to protect, I can't think of it.
This seems rather prophetic considering recent events..... Image

:iagree: And I heard Gov. Perry say the same thing about CHL carry anywhere in the State with my own two ears. Now, our challenge is to prevent the Austin/Houston/Dallas Libs in the Legislature from derailing the bills that change the TPC.

At this moment, I hold no hope at all of the Federal law passing to remove the COE ban on concealed carry. I have a better chance of winning the Texas Lottery two weeks in a row than having the Post Office ban lifted.

I can tell you as a "local Leo" we can enforce federal law. But then it depends on the laws. Immigration law is usually off limits. It would be a radio call to the post office as we are not running in there checking. If I had the call, I would be calling the postal inspector to handle.
