I have used CHL @ Chase a few times as a second form of ID when required. Never had a problem.

Yes, I did. I did that when I set up my Bank of the West account too. But that's not how I found out about my banker's CHL. We first met at a BNI-type of networking group that I belong to (which he has since joined), and guns came up as a topic of conversation after one of the meetings one day. He owns an XD45c. But his pro-gun attitude did have something to do with my deciding to set up.

Carter's Country in Houston runs several free finance sales each year. The financing used to be through Wells Fargo until Wells Fargo notified them they would no longer finance guns.

They were happy to take a VISA card as an alternate ID.

I moved all my accounts over to Wells Fargo the next week. They were happy to accept my CHL.

Chase? Since when and what are they doing? I've banked with Chase for years. Never a 30.06, not even a gun buster sign. I know several of their bankers who carry, even when working; My business banker being one of them (he's a 1911 nut like me :thumbs2: )
I'd be interested in the answer to this too. We've been with Chase for going on 10 years, and I haven't seen or heard anything to date that tells me they aren't 2A friendly.
Does "showing" your CHL to anyone except a LEO (and only then if asked), in a way, "out" you? I think you should keep it (and your weapon) concealed.

I think an NRA window sticker "outs" you worse because you have no control who sees it.

Chase (or any other bank, financial institution, company, etc) not accepting a CHL as a form of ID doesn't bother me in the least and, IMHO, has nothing to do with being anti-gun. According to TxDPS, a CHL is not a primary or secondary form of identification. It can, however, be used as "supporting identification".

So if the very agency that issues the CHL doesn't accept it as valid ID, how can we complain that private companies don't? :headscratch

:iagree: No reason to show it to anyone else unless it's a situation of last resort but even then, it's really no one else's business. :tiphat:

So, what is a primary ID with a picture other than your US passport and TX DL?

...and that's just DPS' list to get a Dr. Lic... it's not law or enforceable on any business...and banks are in their own private world...what they'll accept one day...they won't the next...horror stories abound...

disappointed that BofA has taken this stance

I cant stand Chase because of how difficult they make the most basic transaction for any non account holder
Just cashing a check at Chase is a HUGE pain. Stand in line at the teller - just to be told you have to "Talk " to a "Banker"
Then explain why you dont have an account, actively refuse the sale pitch and the personal questions. What should be a 2 min transaction turns into 20 min.

Looking for other options - preferably ones that have locations nation wide

If you came into my business and took up some of my resources, I'd also try to pitch you.
Look at it this way, they have nothing to lose since you're not currently a customer.
If they convince you to open an account, they win.
If they don't convince you and you finish your business and leave, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If they inconvenience you a bit, then maybe next time you'll just deposit that check into your own bank account and not take up any teller time at an institution that has no business with you to offset the expense of the transaction. They are providing you, a non customer, with service at their expense.
I'm no Chase "fanboy", but of all the big international banks, Chase has been the easiest for me to do business with.
I sure do miss Bank One. They were by far the best.

IMO, YMMV

I can understand Chase not accepting a CHL as valid Id, the TSA won't either, except with two other valid forms of id.
