Criticize the board, announce departure, come back, criticize some more...

You're entitled to do whatever you want, but I've never understood public goodbyes. They smack of a desire for someone to beg them to stay. I was very active on Twitter, using a pseudonym, until after the election. Then I decided it was a waste of my time, so I quit. I didn't announce it. I simply closed the account. I learned a long time ago that very few really care if you exist or not. You can count them on one hand. Those are the people who deserve an explanation for your actions. No one else does, or even cares.

You were not attacked, but you attacked the forum and the majority of the members here inferring they were anti-government and that your 'oath' prevented your association with those of us who disagree with some of things the government does. As Charles stated, you paint us with a wide brush and want to lump us with the radical revolutionists that are out there.Thomas wrote: If a moderator mentions to me about being "open minded enough to debate and see other's viewpoints", yet I'm being attacked for having a different viewpoint... then how is that better than being one of those liberals who claims he/she is open-minded, but then attacks anyone else who has a different viewpoint?
Distance yourself if you want, but don't try to portray us as a bunch of kooks that don't believe in our government structure and Constitution and want to overthrow it.

Although this would be painting with wide brush strokes, I would describe most of the Forum members whom I have gotten to know through our exchanges as PRO-government patriots. We want to ensure that our Constitutional, democratic republic is maintained and doesn't devolve into tyranny. I have yet to read a single post calling for the overthrow of the government and the abolition of the Constitution. It is our heritage to allow for such political discussion and descent, but I am consistently impressed by our members' pleas to adhere to the rule of law, even if/when our policy makers choose to violate such principles.Keith B wrote:You were not attacked, but you attacked the forum and the majority of the members here inferring they were anti-government and that your 'oath' prevented your association with those of us who disagree with some of things the government does. I am an American. I am a Texan. I am a lot of things. I did not enlist in the military because I am unable to serve ( several high school injuries). If you wish to distance yourself from this forum I will bid you farewell and that will be the extent of my discussion, however I personally have never met any of our members( that I know of) yet from what many have said on this forum I would not deem to be extremists. I believe in the constitution and I am in great support of our men and women in uniform, however I will express my 1st amendment rights and protect them using my 2nd amendment right.
I am and have been a firm believer that this nation even without a large standing army(term is used loosely) will be able to fend off attack from foreign invasion because an armed citizenry is a well protected citizenry. Yamamoto did not fear the American war machine yet did not attempt to invade the mainland... Why is that??? He feared the guns behind every blade of grass...the armed citizen!
Maybe our own leaders should learn from history, and find out what happens when citizens are disarmed.
Farewell

impropriety.
"behaviour that is dishonest, socially unacceptable, or unsuitable for a particular situation"
I'm not making that connection with this crew.
Hope things work out for you Thomas.

I understand what he's doing, I'm not saying I agree with it, that's not for me to say one way or the other, but I understand. It's like the male teacher who won't touch any of the kids because he's afraid of being charged.
Thomas is working in a sensitive job and is playing through the "what ifs" just like the rest of us....this is his chosen route, for now. When/if "stuff" comes, he'll have to re-evaluate his plan each step of the way, as we all will.

If that was really the case, then the OP should have just left.SewTexas wrote:I understand what he's doing, I'm not saying I agree with it, that's not for me to say one way or the other, but I understand. Instead, the OP makes a hasty generalization, proclaiming that he can't be associated with the likes of you - the OP is 'above board' and must self-extricate to avoid "guilt by association." That's weak.

I agree, his method shows a youthfulness about it. a "I am important enough around here that I'll be missed", and while I really don't think he intended to be rude, I completely agree his wording should have been very different. for a generation raised on the internet many don't read before they hit send.
