So the parents let him make the decisions on how to structure his young life.

Having said that, I have three friends with grown boys, in each family one kid was lazy, couldn't hold a job, into drugs and in one case threatened his mother with a knife and another boy (young adult actually) stole his dad's tools and pawned them for drug money. The other kids in the family's were 'normal', happy, industrious, etc. My wife and I could never have kids and we're actually not regretting the fact that we're childless.

If only the media would not "commemorate" these monsters.

I'm firmly convinced others that are unhinged can be persuaded to acts of violence for their fifteen minutes of fame (or longer) with the medias help as in:

"Hey, I'm crazy as a loon, but would be less likely to commit acts of atrocity if ignored, but wow, with the medias help, I'll be front page news, I'll be on television, I'll be the subject of magazine articles, books and maybe even a movie."

Locked door that the girls did not open, saved them.

Ran down random bicyclists and scateboarders with his BMW.

I wonder if this will result in CA increasing the clearance motorist are required to give bicyclist. Makes about as much sense as using this event for more gun control.

The real problem was not the guns, the knife, the car, or even the nut job. The real problem was the parents who let the kid's issues fester until others had to deal with it.

He's been in therapy since he was 8, every day in high school. One of the men killed in the apartment he shared with him, was planning to move out at semester. Bought the gun with pocket money he saved that was sent by his parents and grandmother. He had $5000 in cash.

It is obviously a gun problem. Sarcasm off.

A few thoughts. First, the father made quite a few shekels promoting and glorifying violence in The Hunger Games. This is another mass murderer who doesn't fit the whole "Tea Party domestic terrorist" meme. Instead, he was a total lefty, active in The Young Turks. Half the people he killed were with knives, and another third of the victims were hit with his car, so find a way to blame the NRA.

This is the agenda of the other side. Three people were killed in spectacular fashion with a gun. So new laws must be written. By the way did anyone notice 81 Americans died in Mexico last year.

Talking about the Information Age amuses me considering that they constantly base the need for more gun control on emotion instead of logic and facts.

I see that the usual suspects haven't even let the bodies cool before starting the drum beat for more gun control. And the members of the NRA are the ones who should be ashamed?

Mr. Martinez is enduring a pain I cannot fathom and one I pray I never have to. He is hurting and the need to blame something is understandable. I just wish that in his pain he wasn't seeking to strip the rights of millions of law abiding citizens.

Family of shooter/stabber/BMW driver, has released a statement through their attorney:

“On behalf of the Rodgers family they want to make sure that the victims and the victims’ families are aware that this is the tragedy of the most extreme,” Shifman said. “They want to send their deepest condolences to all of the victims’ families involved.”

“My client’s mission in life will be to try to prevent any such tragedies from ever happening again,” Shifman said. “This country, this world, needs to address mental illness and the ramifications from not recognizing these illnesses.”

Shifman also claimed the family is “staunchly against guns” and supports gun control laws. “They are extremely, extremely upset that anybody was hurt under these circumstances.”

Are they against BMW's and knives too cause he killed and injured just as many with those tools as well.

Perhaps if they had spent more time on their child he would not have been a sadistic monster.

Isn't it just amazing how this seems to be a non issue?

Are these people blind or just stupidly ignoring the facts?

Oh that's right. Silly me. How could I forget!? It doesn't fit into their agenda. :banghead:

A full-throated rebuttal to much of the above cited asinine analysis ...
