Since you can clearly hear the guy saying, "Shoot me. Shoot me now" and the police yelling, "Drop the knife" several times, the only problem I can see with this is the number of shots fired. People don't understand at all why you need to shoot more than once or why you can't shoot for the extremities instead of center mass. When he moved toward the officer on the right side of the vehicle, he sealed his fate. It seems like that's what he wanted.
