CHL holder "outed" by "concerned parent "

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Maybe getting off topic, but do y'all really care that people know that you carry? It doesn't bother me in the least.

I don't want anyone to know I carry because of the potential for stupidity similar to this case.

I think that is awesome... You should suggest it.

The situation is another reason why you shouldn't talk about CHL. Nothing good can come of it.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm carrying any time it's legal to do so. Do I go around waiving my CHL (or gun) in the air? No. Do I wear a CHL badge and tiara? No. I have used my CHL to vote, ID at my bank and several other times as a second ID. Do I care if people know I have a CHL? No. It has actually been a conversation starter several times with people interested in getting their CHL, but haven't yet. :thumbs2:

Yea, I don't see the point. It's a divisive subject. There have been a few examples of people being "outed" when they were doing something wrong. Those outings aren't possible if no one knows you're carrying...

I'm not saying that you can't talk about your opinions or your interests. I'm just saying that for me, I choose not to discuss it in company that I know isn't predisposed to supporting the idea...

:iagree:

I used my CHL to vote yesterday, no issue. As to the complaints from Dems on voter id. They accept 7 forms of id, I have 4 of them :thumbs2: (DL, CHL, VA id, & passport)

I don't think this is the best thing to do. This is stooping to their level. As respectable citizens (nevermind the gun-owning part of things) we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard. It's easy to fight fire with fire, but it's more effective to be the model citizen that they are not.
Keep calm and carry.

Once the issue makes it to the public arena and not private the response should be in like kind.

But in doing so, you'd create more of a bad image for yourself. The goal is to make the "concerned parent" look bad and paranoid. However, if you're active in your community and constantly improving it, letting people get to know you, and showing how good of a person you are, your image will improve, and the image of the anti-gunner will degrade. No one will take them seriously, and if your neighbors open up to it, you might be able to talk to them about guns and why you carry, pushing them more towards your side.

I think that is much better than constantly one-upping each other, degrading your own image in the process. Hate is a powerful weapon, but love is even more powerful.

We will just have to disagree. As I go about my day I make it a point to be polite and caring for others including those I do not know. I will not tolerate being wronged. I will provide those who do so ample opportunity to rethink their position. I also know when to walk away from a situation. If someone was to do this sign thing to me they would regret it.

Too many people in this world live their lives without understanding that actions have consequences. If more idiots learned this early life would be much easier.

The poster/photo she posted in her yard of him shows his hand/arm covering the gun at his right hip. His shirt is not even covering it. it is not concealed properly in my opinion and would not pass Texas law, again, in my opinion.

Oh heck yeah, if she posted a photo of me, I'd stake a giant poster of her home and address with the caption, "This home owner does not believe in guns!" I wouldn't remove mine until she removed hers, period. She deserves to be outed as well.
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

I fail to understand the big deal. Open carry is legal in Minnesota (with a permit).

I absolutely agree. It takes work to conceal carry and I don't want people to know that I do. My wife knows. That's it. That is also why I do not show my CHL unless required by law. My closest friends don't know that I carry.

I love it and think that it would give pause for others to ponder & provide a very strong rebuttal to her ignorant position.....but being a Texan, Im just too refined to do something like that..... :woohoo :anamatedbanana
