One caveat concerning use of the slide lock on Glocks: it's not a great idea to use the slide lock to release the slide after a magazine change. Over time, if you shoot a lot, this will wear the notch in the slide, eventually to the point where the slide won't lock back. The "slingshot" release is a lot easier on the slide.

I had no idea they had so much stuff one could add to the weapon.
Make sure you have a look at Clipdraw, I purchased one off ebay for my Glock 19 and paid $12. It's cheap and works great! Just google glock 19 clipdraw.

Also I recommend you shop at Academy for your ammo, I recommend the yugoslavian 9x19 (green box) ammo. Blazer 9x19 tends to stove pipe on my glock 19.

Congrats on the Glock 19! I was looking for one for a long time, but at the last minute, switched to the Glock 23, and I love it. I really like the fact that I can take a G19 barrel and it's interchangeable with my G23 barrel. I just get some G19 9mm magazines and ammo, and I'm good to go. Two guns in one!

Caveat: stay away from Botach Tactical [botachtactical.com] at all costs.

I switched to the G19 about two years ago and couldn't be happier. My previous sidearm was the S&W 908, which has now been relegated to the "car gun" role.

The only items I recommend are:
  • Night sights
Magazines (I prefer the G17 magazines - more ammo and will function in the G17/19/26/34)
    Quality Bel/Holster/Magazine carrier
AGI DVD on disassembly so you know how it works
Training, training and more training followed up by LOTS of practice.

Congrats on your G-19. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is a smooth trigger. I really hate the grooved trigger on the Glock compacts and sub-compacts, and swapping the trigger out is very simple.
If you like the "U" shaped rear sight, I recommend going with a Glock steel rear sight and an Ameriglo tritium front sight. I think I paid around $60 for this setup and couldn't be happier.
