Does that mean we still support property rights?

No one made these people these people disarm and go to this theater. It was a choice just as I have a choice to go to a theater that is not a gun free zone or not go at all and wait for the movie to come out on Netflix.

Company policy does not set law so unless there is a law there to make it illegal people can still carry.ShootDontTalk wrote:It is a gun free zone. Check the Grand 16 website under Conduct Policy.

We? I can't speak for anyone else, but I support the right of the property owner under current law to legally decide if they want firearms in their place of business.Richbirdhunter wrote:Jumping Frog wrote:Every customer there made a choice to disarm themselves (or not) as well as made a choice to purchase a ticket there.Richbirdhunter wrote:Do we support property rights in this case?

In La any form of notification (gun buster sign, notice on ticket) makes carry illegal. I bet the farm there were gun buster signs at the entrance.suthdj wrote:Company policy does not set law so unless there is a law there to make it illegal people can still carry.ShootDontTalk wrote:It is a gun free zone. Texas laws are much more gun friendly than La.

I don't rely on someone else for my safety. If I make the choice to leave myself defenseless that decision and the risks that come with it lie at my feet.

It appears that this theater was one of only a few theaters in the area that were gun free zones. All of the theaters banning guns appear to be owned by the same company. Not a stretch to assume that the shooter targeted a gun free zone.

The answer is simple, don't patronize the business.Richbirdhunter wrote:Do we support property rights in this case?
However, I do feel that banning lawful concealed carry on the premises is reckless on the part of the theater.
Keep calm and carry.

Morally I agree, but it doesn't seem to meet legal requirements for such, unfortunately.mr1337 wrote:The answer is simple, don't patronize the business.Richbirdhunter wrote:Do we support property rights in this case?

I do support the rights of the property owner just as I support my right to not go there unarmed. It would be the same there as here, you dont want me to be able to defend myself, then you dont want my money.

Wonderful, more fuel for Obama's SS "gun grab" agenda.

We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions. ~ Ronald Reagan ~
