I assume that the intent of his phraseology to was suggest that he doesn't believe in the Creator God. It seems a roundabout way to say that he doesn't believe in God. And when I thought a little deeper about it. He was saying in a way that he actually believes that Darwin's theories will save his soul from torment. In other words, he believes in Darwin for salvation (in kind of a backwards sort of way).

I am sure that he would say that he believes that Jesus was a good man and a good teacher, but that Jesus's assertions about being the son of God and the way to salvation are ridiculous. Just as I would say that I'm sure that Darwin may have been a good man and a good biologist, but his denial of the Gospel has become a source of great deception in our world.

As for me, I believe in the Bible and the Creation story. Do I know how God created the universe or the planet or the creatures. I think that He intentionally left some details out of his book, because they have nothing to do with our salvation. I wasn't there. I don't know if Darwin's theories have any merit or not. But I do believe that God sends famines and floods, meteors and ice ages and that he is in control of which species exist and for how long and for what purpose. I'm not short earther, but if God wanted to create the earth and everything in it he could certainly do it in whatever time frame he wanted, because He is not constrained by time. Time, as we know it, is a human invention anyway based on the earth's rotations and revolutions.

The great uniter.
I don't know what it means to "believe in Darwin." I guess I believe in him too....the historical record seems to present sufficient evidence that he existed. I wonder if he believes in Stalin, Karl Marx, and Saul Alinsky too? It seems to be a rather strange way to express a belief in a scientific theory...sort of like saying "I believe in Einstein" instead of saying "I believe in the theory of relativity."

But then, being "pro-immigration" is also a meaningless statement, as is "pro gay rights." Just another indication of what a sleazy pathological lying narcissist he is.
I was going to make an analogy more along the lines of your discussion. I didn't because I don't think Bloomy has anything but the most superficial liberal notion of what Christians believe. I don't think his locution was a reference to Jesus in the sense of what Christians believe because I don't think he understands "belief" as you do. I think he was saying "I believe in science and particularly the science of evolution."

IOW, he was saying "I believe in science, not God," and in a particular aspect of science that contradicts Biblical Christianity. However, instead of saying "I believe in evolution" he said "I believe in "Darwin" because Darwin is a man, thereby rejecting the divinity, and because it targets a specific audience: Christians who embrace Jesus and reject evolution and the liberals who hold them in contempt. Most Americans who aren't Christians or anti-Christian liberals probably don't even know who Darwin is.

Still, the statement, "I believe in science" is nearly as vapid as the statement "I believe in Darwin," especially today. When people like Bloomy say "I believe in science" what they're really saying is that "I'm not superstitious like all you rubes that believe in God." It's an expression of both moral and intellectual superiority, but it seems more than a little naive at a time when a whole lot of "science" is bought and paid for.
Of course, the first thing that came to me after reading this exchange was:

I know. I am a bad boy.

Sorry..... carry on.

I agree that he'll pull way more votes from the Dems than the Reps. But there is no way, no way, no way I want bumberg getting even close to that seat.
Also what would the effect be on states that are winner take all? Can he offset some states that were thought to be out of play (OH, IL, FL, PA) for the Reps (Trump) initially .. that is create a situation where the state vote is (county/electoral wise) 40% Dem, 39% Rep, 21% Ind? and still throw it to the Dems? Or would the opposite be true in a battleground state - siphoning off Dem votes and creating a 40% Rep, 39% Dem, 21% Ind?

I hope he runs and spends a $billion. The economy needs it. Too bad most of it will go to annoying
TV ads.

Might be good for the country too as both houses of congress with dems and reps will do nothing for him. Super gridlock.
You may have the last word.
