A patriot and warrior, decorated and remembered for his service and his time as a POW. Sometimes a horrible man and horrible senator and backstabber and nut. May the Lord almighty receive his soul in redemption.

I respect and thank him for his military service. I can't say much positive about his political career, but I also won't speak ill of the dead. I'll just say RIP and pray for his family.

Thank you for his service, prayers for his family.
As a politician, I am glad he is no longer a US Senator.

Huffington Post remembers the younger John McCain like Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger and George W. Bush. A war criminal.

I guess you could say this is a piece that might make you think better of him.

The latest update on the memorial is one of the biggest brow-raisers yet: along with former vice president Joe Biden and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, openly liberal Academy Award winner Warren Beatty will serve as a pallbearer in Saturday's services at Washington National Cathedral.

They apparently worked together on campaign finance reform.

His list of pallbearers is a mix from both sides of the aisle, just like life. They don't get more conservative than former Sen. Phil Gramm.

If McCain had won the presidency in 2012, then re-elected in 2016....Sarah Palin would now be President of the United States.

Doubtful. She couldn't even finish out her term as Gov. of Alaska.

If he had won the nomination in 2012, I doubt he would have picked her as a running mate.

That’s what I get for copying a remark from some other site without checking accuracy first. McCain ran in 2008. :headscratch

It's a shame he didn't retire a few years ago so he could focus on his health and enjoy time with his family.

I was always taught that in situations like this "if you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."

Thus I have remained silent on the subject. :tiphat:
