the thing i heard was you could own guns in a club and they were kept in a range that was secure and you go in shoot your gun then give it back and go home is that the case
It is illegal to own a handgun in the UK. Full stop. This was because in 1996, Thomas Hamilton walked into a school in Dunblane carrying two (IIRC) handguns and murdered sixteen children.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_massacre

I think that Hamilton had a history of mental illness, which should probably have meant restrictions on nutjobs having access to firearms. Instead, Tony Blair's newly elected government passed the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997, banning all handguns in the UK.

Idiots. :bigmouth
I remember that. Mostly 5 year olds. So sad.
Yeah, so do I. I heard it on the car radio on the A78 between Largs and Greenock. It was raining. It didn't strike us at first how serious the event was. Murdering anyone is bad enough. But children. Dear G-d. Monstrous. Totally monstrous.

Referring to the .22 round found on the street:

"The bullet, of Swiss origin, was still in its brass casing, complete with enough gunpowder for it to fire itself."

Wow! The bullets fire themselves? No wonder they banned guns! If the bullets can fire themselves, just think what those British GUNS can do!!!

Not only that but a strike on it or heat could set it off, they are analyzing it like its an IED,if they are freaking about that if they walked in my gun/reloading room they'd pee themselves
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

When I read that, I told my wife that the JFK mystery had just been solved. After all, if they found one magic bullet, there could have been another.

I couldn't help myself ..I just e-mailed this to the editor .. ..

Hi,

I go on the principle that you and your reporters have at least the minimum education required to write your names, so I'm somewhat intrigued at the apparent idiocy evident in this article ...

http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/w ... oorway.php

Since when did bullets 'fire themselves' ?

Sure, if you throw a bullet into a fire, the primer might conceivably ignite, but then you wouldn't advise someone to throw, say a firework onto a fire for the same reason, would you? Or a can of deodorant. Or a jerrycan full of petrol.

I believe that this is what's called 'common sense'.

So when can we expect you to start calling fireworks, deodorant and jerrycans 'lethal' ?

Sorry for the tone of my mail .. but I really can't suffer idiots.
