Not an ID? Fine. That is a decision of someone at the State level or any other agency, business, or individual accessing what the CHL card represents. Just do not expect me to believe that the Texas DPS people license me to conceal and carry a firearm without firmly believing they know who I am and that I meet all the other requirements.
I've wondered if they check the picture, and yes, it seems like an easy thing to do, BUT, if they have such easy access to the drivers license pictures, why don't they just use that instead of having to send in our own picture? It really makes me wonder if they actually are checking.

They have stated that use of the DL picture for CHL is in the works.

Why would you want NOT to have the plastic? What do non-DPS LEOS use to verify CHL, as they don't have access to DPS databases. What about when the DPS database is down? What do out-of-state LEOS use for reciprocity? Seems like a solution in search of a problem to me.

To compare pictures as a verification rather than just sending the old picture out on a license and it maybe being a case of identity theft...

We just had this conversation at work yesterday. We had to re-do our I-9's at work for our pay role company and everyone had to fork over 2 forms of ID.
A lot of people tried to use their chl's and it wasnt permitted because it wast on the list of approved forms of ID.

I only show one form of ID for an I-9 (or W-9) as specified in list A. If an employer insisted on seeing additional documents, I would report them. The I-9 instructions clearly state they may not do so.

One document only apply s if the id is from list A (which Mr.ViperBoa did not sate if he/they were using List A, B or C )
Id venture a guess, most new US citizens employ's use two docs for the I9, 1 from list B, and 1 from List C
If the employee was using a document form B or C, they had to have TWO.
