Well, I don't remember too many of my classmates. It was a while ago and my wife went there when it was still UNT. She's definitely not anti. I'm still friends with one of the few classmates I can remember and she's also not anti 2A. I know that's only three, but I didn't get too friendly with many of my classmates while there. I didn't start college until I was almost 26y, married, and working my way through college.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I suggest you carry where it is legal and if a misinformed LEO wants to arrest you and it goes to court you find the greediest lawyer you can and tell them they get every penny after all your fees and costs are paid.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!
No State shall convert a liberty into a privilege, license it, and charge a fee therefor. -- Murdock v. Pennsylvania
If the State converts a right into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right with impunity. -- Shuttleworth v. City of Birmingham

Back when I golfed, I went on that course alot because it was a beautiful walk. I know alot of the course has been taken by buildings now, but I bet it still is a really nice walk.

Yeah, the old cart path circled in red is all that is left. I'm sure more of that will fall prey to progress over time but for now, it is a nice long out and back walk. The wife and I are constantly on the lookout for good walking spots, preferably CHL friendly.

Strange as it sounds, the police are usually not the best source of information about what is legal and illegal.

As others said, I would carry without hesitation as long as there's not an event in progress or you don't enter the building.

In regards to UNT as a school, my wife and I are both proud alums. It's got the liberal element like almost every major college institution, but I really only noticed an agenda from my professors in the Political Science classes. My wife got an Economics degree and I got a bull in Business Computer Information Systems followed by an MBA. I had a great relationship with some very conservative professors. I still keep in touch with a couple of them and consider them mentors.

I was part of an active group of College Republicans, a large Baptist Student Ministry, and a great group of students in Campus Crusade for Christ. In our mock on-campus elections in 2000 and 2004, Bush won by an overwhelming majority. Conservatism is alive and thriving at UNT.

The thing about UNT is that there is an extremely vocal minority of wackos that gets the press. The artsy students who hung out by Fry street and acted weird for the sake of being weird draw most of the news attention. (The corporate makeover on Fry St. and the explosion of fraternity row houses seems to have greatly reduced this in recent years.) I noticed when I was a student that the "protest for awareness" marches - that for some reason invariably go from the clock tower on campus to the clock tower on the square - were basically the same subset of hippies getting together every night under a new club name.

Unless you go to Bob Jones or BYU, you'll find the silliness / liberalism / faux activism noise on most campuses. Three of the most liberal people I tolerate today as friends all went to TAMU. . .
