I won't sell without CHL, LEO Badge or BATF form. Do I limit my customers; sure. But I also can sell other guns later.
The driver's license wasn't the issue there, the blatant straw purchase was the problem.
"Agents witnessed the Defendant (Copeland) negotiate a price for a handgun with Hipolito Aviles, who then handed cash to a second Hispanic male, who then handed Aviles' cash and his own identification to the defendant," the prosecution said in court documents.

"The Defendant in turn sold the firearm and handed it to the 'straw' purchaser, who then handed the firearm to Hipolito Aviles. The Defendant then instructed Mr. Aviles to hand the firearm back to the straw purchaser because he had 'bought' the firearm. Agents witnessed the straw purchaser hand the firearm back to Hipolito Aviles a short time later."

Honestly, I feel the same way you do Medic 624... I'll not sell a gun without ID and a Bill of Sale. If the buyer doesn't have a CHL I'd run his info past LE. Purely for my own peace of mind.

However.... I also read your original statement as... "public transfers should not be allowed without a CHL"...
It wasn't just Froggy that read it that way.

Huh, ya know... In re-reading I can see where that may be the case or interpretation. That is absolutely not my opinion but my opinion for my own peace of mind for a transaction if I am selling "public transfer" style...
Thanks for the different insight. :tiphat: But as I followed up I thought I had cleared that misconception ... Maybe I hadn't but again, thanks.
