Mike Nesmith(the Monkee who could play his instrument)is an interesting study. His mother, Bette, was the author of a real life rags to riches story: Divorced, single mom, working as a clerical temp, invents typing correction fluid(Liquid Paper), becomes multi-millionaire.
While best known for his run with the Monkees, Nesmith also had a mildly successful writing career producing hits for The Stone Poneys, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Monkee's, and Run-DMC.
The first Grammy Award for Video of the Year was won by Nesmith in 1981 for his hour long vid "Elephant Parts". His video production company, Pacific Arts Corporation, was an early producer of video content for home VCRs and has worked with many well known film makers such as Ken Burns.
His post-Monkees charting tune "Joanne" w/First National Band, is considered one of, if not the first, recordings in the "Country Rock" genre,

I have good memories of Different Drum. I was working in a restaurant as a dishwater/busboy. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of working in the kitchen.

Yes it is.
All my favorite female artists, Linda Ronstadt, Bev Bivens, Emmylou Harris, Judith Durham and Grace Slick are in their late sixties or early seventies. All are dealing with the with health related issues of some sort. Just a shame.
And yes, I know that they are all petite brunettes with dimples and big voices. My wife(who shares those attributes)pointed out my mania to me decades ago, lol.
