Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
Jim and others...if you do a search for "TX CHL 30.06" this thread comes up #5 (and also listed in #4 as a sub-heading) on Google.
http://www.google.com/search?client=saf ... 8&oe=UTF-8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
My view is that these threads and/or letters do have some impact, and that's just my view, I'm on optimist (but not an optometrist lol).

We'll see, but the record of reversals is slim.

Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
6000 X 300.00 (average cost of glasses) = a potential $1800000.00. Almost 2 mil. Thatta leave a mark. I wish I would have known about this a couple weeks ago. I just bought my son some glasses through them at the Lewisville Vista Ridge Mall location. I didn't see a sign there, but if one does it, I won't do business with any of them. BTW, the lenses popped out of my sons glasses the second day he had them. Nice work.KD5NRH wrote:Name a business that wouldn't think twice about turning away 6,000 potential customers.seamusTX wrote:Over 6,000 members, which is a whopping 0.03% of the population of the entire state.
Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
The members of this forum are spread out all over the state. I have no idea how many live within range of the Grapevine Eyemasters. I have no idea how many wear glassses, or have immediate family members who wear glasses. I have no idea how many prefer a competitor for other reasons, and couldn't care less what Eyemasters does.Kinetic wrote:6000 X 300.00 (average cost of glasses)...
My point is that Eyemasters would not see a rush of 6,000 customers if they took down their 30.06 signs.
The issue is simply not that simple.

Probably the most persuasive facts that could be presented to them are
- The 300,000 CHL holders in Texas do not go around shooting up places that do not have 30.06 signs
- Someone with ill intent is not deterred by a sign.
Good luck, anyway.

Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
PSSSSST - Jim, this thread started about the Eyemasters in the Austin area...I posted up confirming my experience and finally barely seeing (again, no pun) an invalid 30.06 sign at the Grapevine location...there are locations ALL over the state. Just wanted to make sure you had your info right.
Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
Sorry. It's hard to keep the details straight in a 5-page thread.
But the location is irrelevant. Only a small percentage of the membership of this forum lives in the market of a particular Eyemasters.
If every single Eyemasters posted a valid 30.06 sign, they would be excluding all 6,000 forum members and all 390,000 CHLs (or whatever the number is now); but that seems not to be the case.

Another perspective:
390,000* CHL owners is about 1.6% of the Texas population. If you factor in average household size, then CHL's could conceivably constitute over 4% of their customer base in Texas.

I'm not telling anyone not to try. I'm just playing the devil's advocate.
I'm sure the signs will be down by Monday morning.

That's why some business used to be whites-only, and some resisted the Americans with Disabilities Act, and some still throw out blind people with seeing-eye dogs.
Come on, prove me wrong.

Re: Letter to Eyemasters regarding 30.06 sign
well, I got a responce today - sorta. Lady from Eye Care Centers of America called and left a message and asked me to call her back. When I did so about an hour later, got her voice mail. So I guess now we're playing phone tag.
A phone call was more than I was expecting; thought I'd just get a form letter blow off. So I am a bit encouraged that I might actually be given the opportunity to further enlighten someone; but knowing full well they won't likely be changing their policy.
Anyway, it's a start (I hope). Will of course update here when I finally talk to her.
