I am pretty sure they won't be asking me about a hunting license if I start lobbing .223 rounds three hundred yards into the treeline. Plano is kind of funny about hunting in the city limits.cbr600 wrote:"No closed season. These animals may be hunted at any time by any lawful means or methods on private property. Now I have to go pick up that rotten meat I left at the tree line!

...as to what WildBill said:
Live *COYOTES are currently under a statewide rabies quarantine that prohibits them from being transported or sold in Texas (see exceptions). For information on the rabies quarantine, visit the Texas Department of State Health Services Infectious Disease Control Unit Web site. (from the Wildlife Dept website...)

Yeah, I agree on reading the law and paying a lawyer to interpret it if it is really important. The existence of the phrase "testilying" is enough to keep me from relying on the word of any LEO.speedsix wrote:...I've seen more cases where it didn't fly...than Wiki listed in their report...I've seen many officers pull an amnesia attack outa the hat in court and who'd the judge believe??? like I said...I'll get my legal advice from reading the law...not asking a cop...from experience...hirundo82 wrote:Actually, it can be.speedsix wrote:and "the po-lice tol' me to" is NOT a legal defense...

I wouldn't rely on the entrapment by estopplel defense unless I had something in writing--eg I wrote a letter to the BATF and they said something was legal, then changed their mind later on without telling anyone (as they are wont to do).

Re: Coyote Problems!!!
Although coyotes are considered "high risk" for rabies, there were no rabies positive coyotes tested in Texas in 2010.

According to the Texas Wildlife website, they have been dropping bait for coyotes containing rabies vaccine since 1995. This program has been very effective. It appears that skunks are the largest carriers now.muleman wrote:Although coyotes are considered "high risk" for rabies, there were no rabies positive coyotes tested in Texas in 2010.

Skunks are the major issue in almost all of the country, follwed by pretty closely by raccoons.WildBill wrote:According to the Texas Wildlife website, they have been dropping bait for coyotes containing rabies vaccine since 1995. As for skunks, they also carry a disease called 'stinkies', so I try to stay as far away as I can from them.

Re: Coyote Problems!!!
The oral rabies vaccine has been real successful. its interesting to look at the maps where positive cases were found from 95 when they started to now. Skunks in our area are a very real problem and something to be aware of. Not really much chance of a person getting bit but your dogs are definitely at risk. even in town.....Collin county had one of the highest number of positive skunks.
