Oh, Canada!

Isn't Canada a nation with very, very strict gun control laws?

Must be some NRA, TEA Party, bitter-clingers, American Republicans who have slipped across their border.

It is all George Bush's and Dick Cheney's fault! :smash:

Do we hold any hope that today's events change any legislators minds regarding gun restictions on the law abiding ?

How pathetic. If Canadian Troops need to store their uniforms in a chest to avoid being killed it's time for a Canadian Revolution. That goes for any Country that adopts a "hide from the enemy and do nothing" approach to War.

Atlantic commander to Canadian soldiers: Avoid wearing uniform in public

"A top military official Tuesday warned soldiers in Canada’s eastern provinces to avoid wearing their uniforms in public out of fear of being targeted in the wake of deadly attacks on personnel in Quebec and Ontario."

It was an interesting conundrum. We were not allowed to keep civilian clothes aboard ship but were told to avoid traveling in uniform. In order to travel under orders and access military transportation, we had to be in uniform, but were told to avoid traveling in uniform. And on it went.

For the Navy this changed when Admiral Zumwalt became Chief of Naval Operations and authorized civilian clothes aboard ship, and sideburns.

As an aside, Zumwalt was Executive Officer of my ship. the USS Zellars, from 1946 to 1948. We always wondered what it would have been like if he had been made Captain. "Here is Captain Elmo Zumwalt of the USS Zellars." could get a little tough to say after a good liberty.

Oohhh, you were so close...
Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau was born in 1982 and was the son of Bulgasem Zehaf, a Quebec businessman who appears to have fought in 2011 in Libya, and Susan Bibeau, the deputy chairperson of a division of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. The two were divorced in 1999.

Interesting that Canada did not label this and the other event "work place violence," but actually called it terrorism.

As a Canadian, I condemn this terrorist and criminal act of the first degree. This has nothing to do with Islam. The attacker is well known criminal with mental issues. Now, let us see how he did acquire a shotgun? With all the registrations of all long guns and handguns (restricted) in Canada. Only good guys suffer the burden of the Gun Control.

I declare that, first and foremost, the attacker is a traitor and maybe a kookoo.

Honor guard was shot at "point blank range". Was the poor honor guard supplied with ammunition?

Honor Guard was a father of a young son and is described as a man who would do anything for you.
RIP

I remember seeing a guard one time in Canada, I'll have to look but I bet he was armed with a flintlock.

BG wore a hoodie.

BG has been described as a recent convert. But his dad went to Libia to fight Kadafi.

Sounds like there were no armed anyone inside the parliament building with the exception of the Sargent of Arms.
Didn't sound like he was an LEO, but a ceremonial guy with a big hat and big sash.

Fortunately he was armed with real bullets and was a good shot or things could have been very bad.

Point blank range remind me again where it came from.

Thanks

The Sargent at Arms had been a Mounty for 29 years. So he probably had some firearms training,
