How pathetic. If Canadian Troops need to store their uniforms in a chest to avoid being killed it's time for a Canadian Revolution. That goes for any Country that adopts a "hide from the enemy and do nothing" approach to War.

It was an interesting conundrum. We were not allowed to keep civilian clothes aboard ship but were told to avoid traveling in uniform. In order to travel under orders and access military transportation, we had to be in uniform, but were told to avoid traveling in uniform. And on it went.

For the Navy this changed when Admiral Zumwalt became Chief of Naval Operations and authorized civilian clothes aboard ship, and sideburns.

As an aside, Zumwalt was Executive Officer of my ship. the USS Zellars, from 1946 to 1948. We always wondered what it would have been like if he had been made Captain. "Here is Captain Elmo Zumwalt of the USS Zellars." could get a little tough to say after a good liberty.

As a Canadian, I condemn this terrorist and criminal act of the first degree. This has nothing to do with Islam. The attacker is well known criminal with mental issues. Now, let us see how he did acquire a shotgun? With all the registrations of all long guns and handguns (restricted) in Canada. Only good guys suffer the burden of the Gun Control.

Honor guard was shot at "point blank range". Was the poor honor guard supplied with ammunition?

Honor Guard was a father of a young son and is described as a man who would do anything for you.

Sounds like there were no armed anyone inside the parliament building with the exception of the Sargent of Arms.
Didn't sound like he was an LEO, but a ceremonial guy with a big hat and big sash.

Fortunately he was armed with real bullets and was a good shot or things could have been very bad.
