Acevedo: ‘We will march as a department with everybody in this community. I will march until I can’t stand no more,’ said Art Acevedo. ‘[Houston] is a city where blacks and whites and browns and legal and illegal all get together, because we judge each other by the content of our hearts’ ...draw you...

Re: Protests - the next level?

This "celebrity coroner" Dr. Baden, reported in his independent autopsy that Floyd died from "asphyxia due to neck and back compression." But he also states that there is no evidence of the compression, because it disappears once the pressure is released. So if there's no evidence, how does he verif...

Re: Protests - the next level?

I was just contemplating what would happen if, with an impartial jury looking at facts, the officers were acquitted. It would probably be Rodney King X 1,000.

Re: Man who died from knee to neck was from Texas

Holy smokes folks! What if the defendant did not directly cause the mans death?! I don't know what the charges would be but certainly not murder. Good lord! Thanks srothstein for posting this. We will see what the final autopsy says but by golly I was wrong to jump to conclusions. I won't make a bi...

Re: Man who died from knee to neck was from Texas

CNN says the preliminary autopsy report shows that the knee did not cause any injury or strangulation. The big question to ask yourself is if you can tell how much pressure he is putting on the man just from the video. Was it actually pressing on the carotid? Or across some other part of the neck. ...

Re: Man who died from knee to neck was from Texas

Hard to believe. There were several police cruisers in the videos, and numerous officers. It's hard to conceive that they would commandeer a busy downtown intersection just to make a fake video. Any time something like this happens, these wild stories come out of the woodwork.

Re: After Action Analysis (George Floyd): May 27, 2020

From what I can see, the officer used excessive force, or perhaps "excessively prolonged force." I think some officers, like with EMS and other high-intensity jobs, can become somewhat jaded over time, doing this stuff day after day after day, for years. It's "just another arrest." That could play a...

Re: GA: "Jogger" chased and murdered

What they actually SAW was: a man walking into a house under construction, then walking out. Period. All the stuff about trespassing is irrelevant. Even if there were "No Trespassing" signs, it's still irrelevant. Just because you see a guy go in doesn't mean you can point a shotgun at him and detai...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

This isn't the first, or even the tenth, time I've heard about artificially inflating coronavirus statistics. I'm not prone to conspiracy theories or foil hats, but sometimes it's hard not to be suspicious:

Re: Nobody but Ilhan Abdullahi Omar

As sort of an umbrella comment, regarding Omar and AOC, this says a lot about the power of the media, as well: there are 89 new representatives in the current legislature; these are only TWO of them. But every time they so much as blink, it's all over the news.

Coronavirus property taxes???

C19 has heavily impacted national, state and local economies, and that might be something of an understatement. I'm getting a little worried, though. Texas cities and counties have a LONG history of using property taxes as an "ATM" when they need money for something. Property taxes have already reac...

Re: Potential confrontation with crazy shooter

I’m not saying that my wife is in any way "less" than I am, but there is no doubt that the nurturer runs very strongly in her, and the protector in me.....and I think that is one of the fundamental differences between most men compared to most women. Same here - it's just not her nature to automati...

Glad that the situation did not turn bad for you and your family. Does your wife know how to operate any of the firearms in the house?
Yeah, but she's not really a gun person. Like, she can point it at the target and pull the trigger, but hasn't done so in a couple of years.
