Re: US didn't need to drop the atomic bomb on Japan

August 6-9 is always a time of reflection for me. I am sure I'm not the only forum member who has worked with nuclear weapons. It tends to change your perception of life and engender a certain dark humor that others often find difficult to comprehend. Based on my own study, research, education, and...

Re: US didn't need to drop the atomic bomb on Japan

This is a bit off topic, but I always thought it interesting. Hope I can be forgiven for slightly derailing the thread.

Re: Alternative to static IP address?

I've been out of IT for several years and I'm rusty, but maybe somebody else here can pitch in with better info. There is a thing called "Virtual Static IP." The one I used years ago was a for profit service. A quick google search found a site that charges a little more than $8.00/month. There may b...

Re: Seattle is Dying

And then I keep seeing that Biden is ahead in the polls. At first I thought this was just equine based fertilizer, but watching the liberal dems destroy major cities with absolutely no blowback from their constituents, I wonder. Actually I'm afraid. I've listened for years about the "coming Civil wa...

Re: Open Carry Question

As an unarmed security guard I believe your best response to seeing someone headed for the front door with a rifle would be to lead everyone out a door on the opposite side of the building. Your city employer cares not one whit about security or your well being. Pretty well the conclusion I've co.e...

Re: Open Carry Question

Are you employed by the library or a private security company? Sounds like you are employed as a Level 2 security guard even though you have Level 3 license. I agree with Jusme...if you aren't allowed to carry your weapon find another security guard position. It's just too dangerous these days to b...

Re: Open Carry Question

To make matters even worse, the library is set up like a shooting gallery. It is set in in a semicircle with the only public entrance at one corner of the base. Shelving is set radially from the center so that staff can easily see all parts of the library. There is nothing to hide behind. The only o...

Open Carry Question

I’m presently the Security Officer at a public library. Being tax funded, we are have no signage. Unfortunately we are in a less than desirable part of town and before the Covid shutdown was, for all practical purposes, a defacto homeless shelter. In the time before I came, staff had gotten extremel...

Re: Protests - the next level?

I'd hate to be stuck in any vehicle in the middle of a crowd like that. I still remember the attack on Reginald Denny.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Reginald_Denny.
