Re: Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

You might also look at something like door armor which reinforces the door jam and hing connections. Below are a just a couple quick links that came up. Just something to make it more difficult to gain entry. You can get better door locks also.

Re: Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

The idea is to make it hard enough to get in, and loud enough, that you have time to wake up and respond. There are devices you can attach to a bedroom door to delay entry and give yourself time. You can also install an alarm. It depends on your particular situation but if it's just you and your ...

Re: Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

Wow. Thank you all for your replies. I surely didn't expect to get so many. I appreciate all of your replies equally, even some that seemed like scolding, I appreciate the advice. There's too many for me to quote things from to reply to.

It is quite possible that the metal stuck in the doorframe ...

Re: Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

You're right. I wouldn't wanna walk around in the front yard with it. Or even literally hold it in my hand in my garage. I just don't want some kid (that's who reportedly shot my neighbor, kid being a teenager in appearance) coming thinking I'm just gonna let him shoot at me and not shoot back or ...

Re: Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

Sorry, may have answered my own question via google as far as open carry, "property under your control" as the law states. I am in control of my property, even though it is rented, so I would assume I am good to go?

Castle Doctrine/Open carry on your property

I am curious and I apologize in advance if this is not the place to ask this question, but I am curious when the law says you can open carry on your own property, does that pertain specifically to property you own, or does it include property you rent? I live in a townhome subdivision in Houston, so ...

Re: CHL holder in Friendswood arrested

Well, I am not saying that I would do the same thing he does. I guess maybe he's come across some people that were road rage maniacs way beyond your normal flipping the bird and just passing you up because you were driving too slow.

What he is doing is illegal and will either get him arrested or ...

Re: Juvenile Past, this gonna halt my CHL?

I called DPS today, and just like I figured got this "we don't do preliminary background checks". I guess apparently explaining your charges and simply asking if it makes you ineligible is asking them to do a preliminary background check? When I made it clear after this that I just wanted to know ...

Re: Open carry - threatening gestures?

assuming that open carry passes, I'm wondering about what the legal and practical do's and dont's will be as far as having a gun on my hip - last thing I wanna do is make an inadvertent move that someone would see as me "going for my gun" - would me simply putting my hand on my open carry gun be ...

Re: CHL holder in Friendswood arrested

I know someone personally who literally just yesterday told me that he does that, brandishes his gun to people who are driving stupid trying to run him off the road, or slamming their brakes in front of him. But he isn't doing what this guy did, or so hes told me. He said when people go acting the ...

Re: Juvenile Past, this gonna halt my CHL?

Thank you for the welcome to the forum, and for the answers. I suppose there is nothing for me to do but go to the CHL class and apply and see what happens. I already tried calling, all they could really say is list every time that I was "put in cuffs" arrested. In otherwords told me not to list ...

Juvenile Past, this gonna halt my CHL?

Alright, I am sure you all get lots of questions such as these, but I assure you that mine is a new "complexity". When I was 15 years old (now 31) I was accused of a felony in another State. I was being tried as an adult at this young age, but the charges were dismissed in the adult judiciary system ...
