I'm one that used to post often, but have disappeared for great lengths of time. My apologies. Life gets in the way at times.

I do like to return and read the posts when I get a chance.
Welcome back. Your thoughts on many issues were great reading.
Thank you!

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

I also wanted to piggy-back the recommendation for a doorbell camera.

We have a doorbell camera at the door, and several self-installed cameras on the house. Both have proved helpful.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

Had our day in court, dog was declared dangerous! Very glad to hear this. The problem with pits is that if they attack, there is a very high probability of someone getting hurt (or maybe killed). A pit is not only large, but has exceptionally strong jaws. Adults have been killed by these dogs, and ...

Re: TX: Houston CHL sentenced to 20 years for murdering attorney over dispute over handicapped parking spot

This is absolutely appalling. My ex-husband was injured in a vehicle accident years ago (when we were married), and I recall it being a hardship when I had to unload his wheelchair and help him in it, in all types of weather, and leave him at the front of the establishment while I parked the vehicle...

Re: backpacks or backpack inserts

I purchased a regular, generic backpack from Amazon with a laptop compartment, and I separately purchased a level IIIa backpack insert. My plan is to sew a casing around it, put in in her backpack, and instruct her to leave it there since it's better for her back (not really a lie, is it?). I will r...

Re: backpacks or backpack inserts

The Guard Dog one seems to be the best bet. I do not plan to tell her that her backpack is bulletproof. I think this would give her a false sense of security, and there are all sorts of issues I can foresee if she knew this. My plan is to tell her to put her backpack on if it is near her or to use i...

backpacks or backpack inserts

What would be a good quality bullet-proof backpack or backpack insert? I found this, and it claims to resist even rifle rounds. Are there others? https://www.shotstop.net/shop-ballisticboard/ballisticboard-backpack-insert-rifle-protection-ra I'm also concerned about what would be too heavy for a chi...

Re: "Answer, but don’t open your door" - Hsoi

The minute someone knocks on our door, all 3 of my dogs go into barking mode, 2 of which sound ferocious yet they would just lick you to death. lol Even the Domino's folks back up. We just replaced our doorbell button with a RING video camera. It's motion sensitive so I get a notice on my cell phon...

Re: The Alamo

I'm glad you posted that. Although we won't be visiting any national parks this year, I'm glad you posted so other families wanting to plan trips will have this.
It's quite a savings for a family.

Re: The Alamo

Thanks for replies. I carried and saw no signs. We parked at the River Center Mall. There was a 30.07 sign at the entrance to the parking garage, but no 30.06 signage. Honestly, the parking garage is where I would be most concerned. My daughter will begin 4th grade this fall, and Texas history is ta...

Re: The Alamo

Thanks so much for the replies.
About to leave.
I didn't want to leave the gun in the truck since truck break-ins are so common in SA, but I also didn't want to be without it.

And I'll make sure everyone removed hats.

The Alamo

Is the Alamo posted, or do you have to get searched or go through metal detectors?
Trying to figure out if I can carry there.

Re: Yelp* reviews for businesses that post 30.06 and/or 30.07

Just make sure that whatever you post is factually correct. A woman is being sued for $1m after leaving a bad review. http://www.wafb.com/story/38305415/woman-sued-for-1-million-over-bad-yelp-review On one hand, that's scary. On the other hand, I doubt we're reading the full story. A review is usua...
