Re: UNT Dallas School of Law suspends student, possiby in part because he owns a firearm

I'm not sure how due process can be denied to this extent at a public university. I get it - "private" institutions get to make their own rules. But in higher learning facilities completely sponsored by the State of Texas, this is as anti-Constitutional and anti civil rights as it gets. It is a play...

Re: CA: Rep suggests forceful confiscation with nukes

These people do not elect themselves. The uninformed, self-serving stupidity of the American voter is the problem! :mad5 I'm not so sure. The recent stories on ballot harvesting in CA suggest that, at least in some places, the Democratic Liberals DO elect themselves by stuffing the ballot boxes. I ...

Re: Boulder, CO AWB

I was in the Denver area visiting family earlier this year and carried 15 round mags. It was my understanding that Boulder is the only city with a 10 round limitation. :iagree: This may not be the definitive answer but it is the best information that I can find. https://www.range365.com/magazine-ca...

Re: CO: Aurora Police kill Homeowner that killed Intruder

A good reminder to reholster when outside or put the gun down when in your home, after threat neutralized. Police are human. They see a gun as a threat. Here is the problem. In the updated link, it shows the homeowner in a robe with a flashlight and a gun. Given that picture in the police body cam,...

Re: Student evicted for having a gun

Devil's advocate here. If her roommates found the guns, someone breaking into the apartment could have found them, too. I've read a couple of accounts of this story but none of them mention what kind of guns. I assume them to be pistols. At a minimum, in a shared space, a fire-proof document box loc...

Re: First aid kits

I would very strongly recommend that, if you are not already certified in a 1st responder capacity, you should take an advanced first aid class of some kind. I don’t know what’s available in your specific area, but up here in DFW, Caleb Cousey’s Lonestar Medics has a Medics II and Medics I field me...

Re: "Brandishing" law or prior cases?

There is an interesting area that was highlighted in a recent event described on this forum. It was an attempted carjacking where an LTC responded by pointing a gun at a man who turned out to have his finger inside of his jacket pocket. My concern about an armed response has always be about whether ...

Re: I'm Very glad I live in Texas!

We spent July in a very small town in Northern NM. The nearest Wal-Mart is 50 miles away but it is in Colorado so no problems with CC. But I will weigh in on the NM sign issue. The only good restaurant in our little town had a "no guns" sign that actually wasn't attached to anything and leaned again...

Re: CA: Rep suggests forceful confiscation with nukes

Light talk of war, from either side, is pretty scary stuff. While some are willing to put themselves at risk, but those that we love as well. Perhaps. But I believe that Rep. Swalwell represents the darkest side of the Democratic party. I wish that's true but after the midterm elections, Stalwell i...

Somehow, we need the same thing to happen in NJ and MD. Both are as bad as D.C.

Re: Require All Prohibited Places to Post

I don't think getting rid of 30.06/7 is politically possible. However, it would be beneficial if Texas did what Illinois requires. Illinois has a prescribed legal no-guns sign. In addition to private entities, Illinois requires all statutorily off-limits places (such as schools, courts, public tran...

Re: QuikTrip hiring 'hybrid employees' who can work while armed to deter crime, keep customers safe

I wonder if the armed employees OC. There would seem to be a problem with this in Texas, given the tight grip that the security industry has on any non-LEO security. I also wonder how they are handling the liability issue. Well in the article it said they were looking for people with law enforcemen...
