Re: Harvard (!) Study Finds Inverse Relationship Between Rates of Private Gun Ownership and Rates of Crime

studies ...suggest there is no reason for laws prohibiting gun possession by ordinary, law ‐ abiding responsible adults because such people virtually never murder. If one accepts that such adults are far more likely to be victims of violent crime than to commit it, disarming them becomes not just u...

Re: Harvard (!) Study Finds Inverse Relationship Between Rates of Private Gun Ownership and Rates of Crime

What to do about juvenile school shooters and murderers?
Psychological studies of juvenile murderers variously find that at least 80%, if not all, are psychotic or have psychotic symptoms 73
Psychosis is clearly a serious mental health issue that must be dealt with aggressively.

Re: Harvard (!) Study Finds Inverse Relationship Between Rates of Private Gun Ownership and Rates of Crime

This is a key part of the Harvard study: almost all murderers are extremely aberrant individuals with life histories of violence, psychopathology, substance abuse, and other dangerous behaviors. “The vast majority of persons involved in life ‐ threatening violence have a long criminal record with ma...

Re: UT: Starbucks clerk relives attack after customer shoots assailant

Was wondering that myself! Most gun shot wounds are survivable {Survival Rates Similar for Gunshot, Stabbing Victims} , and in this case the wound stopped the attack, but the police still had to taser the crazy guy to take him into custody. Good lesson to everyone that a single pistol wound may or ...

Re: UT: Starbucks clerk relives attack after customer shoots assailant

I agree with pretty much said here and glad a good guy with a gun was able to stop this assault. My question is what was he shot with that he was able to run away from a shot to the chest. Was wondering that myself! Most gun shot wounds are survivable {Survival Rates Similar for Gunshot, Stabbing V...

Since it's been over a month I was thinking about this and found some articles: After Five Search Warrants, Amber Guyger’s Apartment Was Reportedly Never Searched Where Is Amber Guyger’s Toxicology Report? From what I've read and understand, no search warrant was issue for Guyger's apartment becaus...

Oh, wait - found it: "You will spend two weeks with the Firearms Training Unit mastering both the Glock Model 22 .40 caliber handgun and a patrol shotgun". https://mdsp.maryland.gov/Careers/Pages/training.aspx Good find! That is completely absurd that private citizens would need double the firearms...

Re: Stand Alone ER's / Rip Offs or ...?

Paladin, I missed your point? Please elaborate. Are you suggesting that going to a hospital ER is better for the hospital's finances and it's continued existence, but to go to a stand alone ER or Urgent Care facilities isn't in the public's best interests or ...? Thanks! P.S. No hostility here, but...

Re: Stand Alone ER's / Rip Offs or ...?

flechero, Thanks! Do you have any idea as to why 'urgent care' is less costly than ER care costs? Thanks again! Urgent care's are often run by nurse practitioners and often close at night. That itself costs less. Hospital and Stand alone ER's operate 24 hours and run by physicians. Hospital ER reve...

Re: Range time (or lack of)

The MantisX is a great training system. It's fairly inexpensive, $150, can be used on almost any firearm, can be used for live fire of dry fire, is small and is easy to install. It will tell you what you do wrong and how to correct it for each shot. It will give you an average for a group of shots ...
