I'm not sure they were average Australians

I agree. Now that it has been released the father was Pakistani and the son was born in Australia, they were clearly not average. While owning multiple legal firearms would make them not quite average, the ethnicity makes it clearly different from my earlier statement. I still find it interesting that they were Muslim and the hero bystander was also Muslim.

Detective at about 40+ meters (43 yards) takes out one of the terrorists with handgun. The author of the post state it was a 9mm Glock the detective used.

And just like that, the Islamists figured out how to get all firearms banned in Australia. Soon, no "gun club licenses" or any other legal methods to own firearms.

There have been reports that the good guy hero was shot by the police, others have said he was shot by the other terrorist.

Also reports that some police officers didn’t engage the terrorists and let them shoot freely for 20 minutes.

Plus reports that the hero was middle Easter Christian rather than a Muslim as generally reported. Plus reports saying he was not a green grocer.

Anyone really know?

So many different accounts.

SHOCKING: Bondi survivor Vanessa Miller was separated from her three-year-old daughter and pinned down by gunfire. She told @Erin_Molan
that she tried to grab the gun of a critically injured officer to suppress the terrorists, but other officers—rather than returning fire themselves—held her back.

“These police officers were hiding behind a car... I tried to grab one of their guns. Another one grabbed me and said 'no.' I hope they are hearing this. You are weak. You could have saved so many more people’s lives. They were just watching this all happen, holding me back.”
