10 pm Saturday night. Wife and I coming back home from a late night DQ ice cream run. Local LEO behind me lights me up going through my neighborhood, near home. Dang it!!! I hand him my DL and CHL & insurance card. He asks if there is a weapon in the vehicle. "Yes, sir." I say, "right here on my right hip." He tells me "that's fine - just keep it right there." So he goes back to his car to check my stuff. Comes back in a couple of minutes, hands my stuff back. Says he pulled me over because my rear license plate light is out (wife's car - I never drive it). He also sort of chuckles as he hands back my insurance card, and tells me I might want to get a new one - that one expired in 2012 (wife's car - I never drive it!!). He says: "if you don't mind, can I ask what kind of weapon you have?" I tell him I'm carrying my 1911. He says: "Nice. Go big or go home, right?" "Right!" says I. He says: "Ok. Y'all have a nice evening" then turns and walks back to his car. No ticket, no written warning, no lecture about getting that light fixed. Saaa-weet!
CHL: $140. Great outcome from traffic stop: Priceless!
Sweet!

Same thing happened to me this weekend. But I got a warning. The officer was very polite and we held a conversation about shooting and gun safety.
