Were you told that it was a break and you didn't have to listen to the pitch?

For those who have yet to take your CHL class, inquire as to whether the instructor allows [pre-paid legal] in the class or NOT.

You can avoid them with a question and avoid the aggravation.

We weren't told of [pre-paid legal] coming untill about the time they were supposed to be there (she was late). We were told we would get a break after her presentation, that way if we wanted to enroll we wouldn't miss class. If it wasn't so hot out I would have gone for a smoke. Instead took it as a commercial break and tuned most of it out.
In Sig I trust.

Do i need to resort to private?
Have you tried "Texas Concealed Carry Institute"? Don't know about now, but when I attended there was no "[pre-paid legal] time".
Phil Ryan runs a good class.

I wouldn't avoid an otherwise good and convenient class trying to avoid them. You'll probably waist more time and effort trying to avoid them that the time they take up in class.

Question: "Is there ANY courses that dont have " [pre-paid legal] TIME" somewhere in their class? I have called everywhere in north dfw that i am familiar with and have no luck."

Although they tried repeatedly years ago, I have not let them set foot on our property. Another new "start up" outfit sales rep approached me at the last gun show in Lewisville, offering $35 per student who signs up. Sadly, the "business model" with many instructors these days seems to be get-em-in-the-seats-real-cheap with a Groupon promo, then rely on kickbacks from a scare tactic spiel. :grumble

To put it in perspective, I would rather pay an EXTRA $35 to have an experienced knowledgeable lawyer come in and give some practical advice and leave a business card than pay $35 less and have to sit through a sales pitch...

Unfortunately, that's not a business model that would work with the majority of individuals.

There are many CHL instructors who don't have [pre-paid legal] as part of their class.

Mr. Cotton doesn't have them, Crossfire doesn't have them. There are others out there who don't have them. I've taken 3 CHL classes, with 3 different instructors, my initial, then 2 renewals, and [pre-paid legal] wasn't at any of them.

It's definitely not a waste of time to inquire in advance if you don't care to listen to a sales pitch, when you're there for a CHL class.

A simple phone call in ADVANCE will tell you.

You could let the instructor know that if they say that [pre-paid legal] will not be in attendance and they show up, you'll want a full refund as you won't be part of a captive sales audience.

I can second Crossfire not having them. When I got my chl they never even said anything about them. Was a good class. When my girlfriend got her chl she did one of the groupon ones and they were trying to scare people into signing up for [pre-paid legal]. At Crossfire I also got a pen/highlighter combo, a little blue book with the relevant laws in it, and a notebook with like bullet points of the class topics that had space to take notes in. Girlfriend on her cheapo class didn't get anything. I also wasn't packed into a class like a sardine.
