"No Weapons" signs

Post by RetNavy »

local movie theater took down their gun busters signs on the box office and now have a "NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND" signs on the box...

listening to the local PD on the scanner they just had a call about a juvenile walking around with a knife(showing or exposed, didn't sound like the RP was saying it was in a case), PD showed up, found him, talked to the manager who did not want to "60" him which is basically giving him a ticket saying he can no longer enter the movie theater... and PD is taking him home....

Now if someone would have entered with a gun, regardless if it was concealed since it is not 30.06 posted, I am sure the outcome would be completely different

The interesting part about this is it's repercussions for those carrying knives of any kind. If they don't have a 30.06 sign, but for whatever reason they discover I'm carrying my little Kershaw Shuffle or happen to have my Cold Steel Recon, could I be charged with anything because they are weapons and they are not covered by the CHL? I'm doubtful, but it makes me wonder about some overzealous theater manager.

With Paris being a rural area this is the only movie theater in a 30 mile radius, so there are probably plenty of farmers and such that go to theater wearing their belt knives.... and the management doesn't do anything about it... i have sat outside waiting for daughter to leave a movie and notice a few wearing them... as i posted the one call today was the kid was showing the knife, wasn't called in by management but by a civilian

employee's there are basically high school kids and maybe the community college students..... managers are adults... no one checking packages or purses

to me.... if they're are going to post a sign like that then if should be enforced all the way....

Could have been some kid with a 12in fixed blade too though, who knows. I'm willing to bet that if it's a place like where I have in mind, I would like to think that it was probably called in for some reason other than because of a pocket knife.

It's a dilemma. My firearm and my Benchmade are tools so I'm not in violation. I could, if I choose, leave them in the car or at home I guess. The problem is my weapon, my brain, and I don't go anywhere without my weapon.
