New Pocket Pistol - Now with Range Report
I finally broke down and bought a pocket pistol. At least for larger pockets. I found a used Kel-Tec P-11 (9mm) that was in excellent shape. I paid $175 plus tax, which still seems to be a good deal to me. I've seen adds on some boards offering them for $200 - 250. I've done a partial fluff & buff (feed ramp and chamber), but still want to slick up a couple of other areas when I get a chance. I haven't made it to the range, yet, but i'll give a report once I do. You'll also have to wait for pictures.
Any local (north of Houston-ish) sources for mags for the P-11 (especially 12-rounders)?

the P-11 really doesn't need a "fluff and buff", especially one that's been broken in. It is a good idea, regardless of the pistol to make sure the chamber and feedramp are "baby butt smooth", but to my knowledge the "f&b" treatment was really only necessary with 1G P32 and 1G P3AT, and a few early (mine
) copies of the 2G P3AT.
Take it to the range, shoot BRASS first, then maybe some CCI aluminum... the steel cased or "bi-metal" (cheap brass like coated steel cased) commie ammo last. The P-11 is a great lightweight 9mm platform and very reliable. You may consider calling KT and ordering new springs and guide rod just to be on the safe side.

I shot my P-3AT, today, could not hit a target paper at 7 yds, moved to 4 yds and found it was 6" low at that range, gave up on using the sights and a 2 hand hold, could hit the 8 1/2 x 11" paper at 7 yds by just pointing it, no sighting involved.
I also used my Ruger ML II on a regular 25 yd target, out of a possible 160, I got 130 at 25 yds so I am not totally out of practice.
I shot my Hi Point C9 at 16 yds and had no problem keeping 14 on the paper, I shall not give a score this time,
.
I finally got dry enough to get a dump truck of sand in yesterday, so I have my range in now, no longer have to make a 35 mi. round trip to shoot, just step out the door of my shop!
I bought the 1 acre next to my 2 1/2 acres in January and have worked out a way to set up stations up to 100yds.
Woo Woo!

I finally got the P-11 to the range last night. The recoil on that pistol is probably about the same as my Glock 23, because of the short grip.
When I did my part, the P-11 performed flawlessly. However, because I am not used to such a long DAO trigger pull, I was pulling a large portion of my shots low and to the right. Still, the accuracy is fine for a SD pistol.
Because of the shape of the backstrap and the very noticeable recoil, I couldn't shoo this pistol for too long. In fact, I only put about 70 rounds through it last night, and the joint where my thumb connects to my hand is still sore this morning from the beating it took. Again this is not a big concern for me, as this will not be a range/target pistol, but a SD gun for use at bad breath range.
In the 70-ish rounds I fired, I did have two stoppages. I know the second one was my fault, and I strongly suspect the first was, as well. Both times the slide locked back before the mag was empty. The second time I noticed my left (supporting hand) thumb hit the slide lock, and I believe that is what happened the first time, as there was no jam to clear; I just pulled the slide back slightly and released and was ready to go. No I didn't do a malf drill, because I wanted to see if there was a noticeable cause for the stoppage.
Over all the P-11 performed as it should. Am I ready to call it a carry weapon? Not yet. Not because it gave me any reason to doubt its ability to perform, but because I haven't put nearly enough rounds through it yet to trust it.

I recommend you buy the trigger shoe and the magazine lip extensions for your mags. I consider these mandatory, they transform the gun into a very manageable small arm.
I have two of those, and just posted one of them in the classifieds. It's like selling one of my kids

With that and the trigger shoe, your P11 will feel about 50% larger and you will have a handful of pistol.

Since the P-11 is almost too big for pocket carry, anyway, I think I'll skip the mag extension. At least for now. The P-11 is a handful, but it is not uncontrollable without the extension.
Why do you recommend the trigger shoe?

trigger shoe
For me, it makes for a smoother pull.
That rough, narrow trigger and long pull makes my finger sore after about 10 rounds. The shoe doubles the surface area and also has a smooth surface.
