What a terrible thing to happen.
Especially in front of his wife and child.
I hope that both of them can learn to cope with this.

RIP Erasmo "Eddie" Alaniz

Precella said she is worried about how Alaniz's death is going to affect her daughter.
"I just don't know how I'm going to explain it to my daughter," she said.

There is a shocking liveleak video on the aftermath of this shooting. I will not give the URL as I know the admins at this site do not take kindly to that source.

Who has $500 on them in cash? "Records show the 26-year-old Alaniz has been in and out of jail, most recently released this April." Legally possessed weapon by the dad? It says the police don't suspect anything other than a robbery, but my suspicion is still high that something else was gonig on.

Looks like he was on his way to an Astro game. I bet it's not that unusual to head to the park with $500. It would be very unusual that a robber would not be satisfied with a $500 score and insist on more.

Any updates on this story? Never saw a report that identified the dead perp. in the parking lot nor the second suspect who drove away.

There has been no news.

I have noticed that in many instances, they just become unsolved cold cases.

There was a 4 year old little girl that was shot and killed in the back seat of her fathers car by a man with an AK 47 during a robbery.

It seemed at the time the police knew who the shooter was, as there were many witnesses.

After the outrage, the case disappeared from the news, just like this one.

in or out of jail doesn't matter he died protecting his family. might have been a scum bag to the world, but he made a last stand to protect his family like everyone of us would hope we have the courage to do if that time comes.

RIP

Uh, lot's of people. I've had more than that on me many times when I'm going to buy something and pay cash. My wife prefers to pay in cash....we've bought as much as $400 in groceries on occasion, or, made purchases at different locations totaling $500 or more. Just because you may prefer not to make purchases in cash doesn't mean that anyone who does must be guilty of some nefarious activity.

Many people don't have checking accounts and carry cash because they aren't able to keep a bank balance high enough to avoid checking and ATM fees. Or just don't like being ripped off by bank fees.

I have businesses that I rarely have transactions with and don't want to open an account with. Therefore, I may have up to $5000.00 on me at an given time. Five hundred is nothing . All perfectly legit.
