I would have sent it back to the manufacturer and got a new one. From time to time you can get a good gun like like Glock, Kember, S&W, etc... to name a few, and you can still have problems. Would you have cut up a Kimber if it had some problems??? Just asking the question. You could have sold it to someone that might have needed one.

I am looking into getting a .380 and a 9mm Hi-Point this weekend at the Pasaden gun show. This is what my children are going to start out on. My Glock 23 in 40cal is tooooo much for a little 15 year old girl and a 9 year old boy. That is my thinking.

I have a buddy who loves the Hi Point carbines. He picks them up all the time at gun shows, abused and ratted out, for $40-50.

The warranty is unconditional, so he sends them back in and gets an essentially new gun in return.

I found the overall quality pitiful and wouldn't have given it away. Friends don't let friends own Hi-Points......but that's my opinion. I'm sure they work very well for some people. Plus, that puzzle is about perfect for my difficulty level

The 45 hi point I got to borrow for a little while worked just fine. I was thinking of getting a few to have for a "Katrina" type emergency, for family and neighbors.
Aint loaning nobody my HK's.

I wonder if the bullet knows it was fired from a cheap gun when it takes out the Bad Guy

And I wonder if the bad guy knows he was just put down by a low cost weapon?

For the price I would like to buy one in 9MM or 45 acp. . Just out of curiosity. I bet you that would be fun.. Unfortunately, can't get it in my part of town. Maybe in gunshows ??

Honestly, if I wanted a reliable, well built handgun, I'd go here:

There's simply better options available than the Hi-Point for not much more. Some people will argue that they don't have more $$ to spend. If that's the case, how are they going to afford to buy the ammo to remain proficient with that firearm? I'd rather scrimp and save to buy something else.

If I were a crook, I'd much rather be shot with a Beretta than a Hi-Point.

I'd have to ask the guy..."Hey, can you use this instead?"

I heard good stories about them too...I wouldn't carry it on my person (doesn't have a good safety system I have heard) but it would make a GREAT plinker or even a car gun

Any of you that have "negative" feelings about it actually fire it?

I get the armchair Kommandos from other sites that see it and immediately say it sucks and have NEVER even put thier hands on one

Hell a 9mm plinker for $150 is NEVER a bad thing
