Hi y'all,
I recently just received my CHL instructor certificate, but I still have some questions before feeling comfortable to host classes. Please bear with me on some of the newbie questions.
1. Do I need the insurance to rent the range to do the shooting test? Do you guys all have NRA instructor insurance?
2. Once I complete the lecture and Proficiency test, how do I submit the student info back to DPS? Do I need to submit CHL 100 and CHL 8 both? Can I send the info in via DPS website or email or do I need to send in a paper copy?
3. Where do you guys host the lecture classes? It doesn't seem financial smart to rent a conference room when I do a small group.
Thank you so much in advance for your time and patience.
Kind Regards,
Roger H

Re: New CHL instructor needs help!
I have the NRA Instructor insurance and wouldn't teach without. I get the wider coverage that covers all classes including my own design. It's about $300 per year.
You need to submit only the CHL-8 and do submit on the DPS.website. Title the CHL-8 with your instructor number to make it easier for DPS. I use the class date and my number.

Re: New CHL instructor needs help!
Thank you for the info. I just purchased the Lockton insurance through NRA website. During my CHL instructor course, there was zero info as far as anything regarding to the business. I only had a basic business plan in mind when I decided to become a CHL instructor. Any info would be highly appreciated!!
Thank you again for your time and info.
Kind Regards,
Roger H
