Taurus 1-1911

Post by skip »

Looking for my first 1911, found a Taurus 1911 with Crimson Trace grips at Sportsmans Warehouse today for 799.00. Is anyone familiar with this weapon and is this a good price? Ones without the laser grips were 649.00. with the night sites, and I believe the regular ones were 5 something ( I forgot when I started checking out the one with the Crimson Trace grips..lol) Thanks for any replies..Skip

I saw one at the Tomball Academy last week for under 600.00 dollars.
No laser grips .

Call me crazy, but I think that anything above $550-$600 is probably too much for a Taurus. For $799, you could probably find an entry-level Sig or Kimber 1911.

FYI, Bud's Gun Shop has those Taurus 1911's for $479. I'm not yet a 1911 man myself, but it seems to be a good entry-level model. By the way, ALWAYS try and price your guns on the web first, brick and mortar gun shops simply have too much overhead to be competitive these days.

Laser sight grips are not cheap, so to figure out whether the price is "good" you have to a) decide if you really want laser grips, and b) subtract that cost to see what he pistol is going for. If you don't really want laser grips, this does NOT sound like a good buy. But that's just me.

Without regard to the price, I have a Taurus 1911 and I like it. I think it is very good quality and I know it is very accurate and dependable. It is going to be my duty gun in the near future.

Bud's also has the one with the laser for $783. That may be cheaper then spending the $799 + tax.

Cheaper than Dirt in Fort Worth has the PT1911s for $499.99 on sale through Wednesday, if they have any left.

Lasergrips are about $250 for a 1911
Night sights about $80

Hmm, never seen that version of that Taurus before.

But, I just ordered a gun from Buds, and others have been happy with them.
