Arlington Boys Walk in on Armed Robbery

Arlington Boys Walk In On Video Store Robbery
(CBS 11 News) ARLINGTON Two children headed inside an Arlington video game store, walked in on a robbery in progress.

The Game Stop Store in the 3400-block of Cooper sells a lot of high-end video equipment, so when robbers came in they ignored the cash register and took merchandise.

Late Friday night William Stevenson was captured. Police say Stevenson was not only involved in the Game Stop holdup, but was already wanted for a separate robbery.

Surveillance video from the store shows a masked man bursting into the store with his gun already drawn. The clerk put his hands up and he was ordered to the back room. Another robber rummages under the counter, possible searching for a bag to put the merchandise in.

As the robbery progressed the tape is still recording as a young boy walks into the store. As the gunman confronts the first boy and orders him to the ground. A second boy walks into the store, sees what's happening and also gets on the ground.

"It's certainly concerning to us when someone walks in, in broad daylight, armed with a weapon, forcing customers to the ground," said Christy Gilford, Arlington Police Department. "That's exactly why we are releasing this information."

Anyone with information about the robbery or the second suspect is asked to contact Arlington police.

The video for this is scary. After a minute or so the mom walks in while the robbers are walking out. Me and my son have been in this store many times but I have never let him go in alone and he is 13, about the age these boys appear to be. I've been talking to Mrs Bigolbigun about adding another pistol like some type of .45 to my carry routine. She was watching this story down the hall and afterward she came out and said that she was glad I carried all the time and perhaps adding another bigger gun would be a good idea. This story is shows it could happen anytime and anywhere so carry 100% of the time.

I worked for GameStop at the corporate office in Grapevine. Believe me I would NOT work in a store. Terrible that happened.

Isn't that the same store chain where the girl was killed here in SA earlier this year? It was also broad daylight and she was shot by the robber.

When I was living in Los Angeles, I got in the habit of carefully looking thru the glass of gas stations and convenience stores to make sure there wasn't a robbery in progress, a habit I still use here and taught my wife. Guess I will have to add Gamestores to that habit (altho I can't imagine ever going to one).

Dallas is getting almost as bad as LA. Gamestops get robbed all the time around here. Time for some good old shotgun squads in my opinion.
