Renewing my CHL

Post by KHickam »

My CHL will expire in a few months 8/2016 - and I want to find out what I need to do to renew it - I see the application process is pretty straightforward as far as application - question is do I need to go back to class for my renewal or what - need to get this in the works because in May I am going to Montana until October (working hunting/service dogs at summer camp) and want to get it done before I leave if I can

Thanks

Renewal classes ended in 2013. All you have to do is apply online for a renewal when you get a letter from DPS. This will be mailed about six months before your CHL expires.

DPS will send you a renewal reminder in February (6 months prior to expiration). Follow the instructions to go online and renew. No class required. Your renewal will expire 5 years from August, not 5 years from the early renewal date. :thumbs2:

As soon as you receive the renewal notice, If you go online and do it, you should have no problem getting it before you leave in May.
