A man was arrested for trying to carry a revolver into Disney World. The man claimed he had a concealed weapons permit, but it had expired over 10 years prior. The man is also apparently a lawyer. Hope he doesn't try to represent himself and show he is more of a fool than he already appears to be.

I cannot listen to the audio at work. Does it say how he was caught? I was at the Magic Kingdom 6 days after this happened. Unless he was carrying it off body, I doubt it was caught before he entered the park. They check every bag, but no checks of anything on your person and no walk through metal detectors.

He was carrying it in his pants, and the ticket counter noticed a bulge in his pants and called over the Officer who followed and then confronted him according to the news report.

If his permit was valid, they would have just kicked him out.Pariah3j wrote:He was carrying it in his pants, and the ticket counter noticed a bulge in his pants and called over the Officer who followed and then confronted him according to the news report.

So I'm guessing FL doesn't have some sort of 30.06 notice(or some sort of equivalent) ?

No. Signs do not have force of law in FL. Keep in mind that he was not arrested because he carried past a sign, he was arrested for carrying without a permit.
Florida, like many other states, does not allow a "no guns" signs (or any type of sign for that matter) to have force of law. As the previous poster said, if he had a permit and was caught we would have just been kicked out.

Didn't know that. So in FL you can CC into ANY business, and not worry about all this signage foofooraw? I wonder if there's ever a legal issue regarding the rights of private property owners. Interesting.steveincowtown wrote:Pariah3j wrote:Florida, like many other states, does not allow a "no guns" signs (or any type of sign for that matter) to have force of law.

IANAL, and always check local laws, but yes, this is how it seems to be. It many states it is just a simple leave or be sighted for trespass. The beauty of this (among other things) is that it completely kills any arguments between those who choose to OC vs. those who choose to CC. If you CC correctly, you will never be asked to leave. If you OC, you are risking it.Ruark wrote:
