(AP) CHINO, Calif. A 1-year-old boy has been accidentally shot and killed by his father in Chino. Authorities say the father was showing a gun to a relative when it went off.

Twenty-six-year-old Joselito Silva was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.

City spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden says the boy was in a car seat inside a sport utility vehicle early Saturday when he was shot, city spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden said.

Van Der Linden says a bullet went through the back seat and hit the boy. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. She says a sibling of the boy was also in the vehicle but was not hurt.

Police say Silva was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

The family, which lives in Utah, was visiting relatives in Chino.
